ADDRESSES LIONS CLUB Shelby Police Chief Jeff Ledford is committed to community involvement in his department. That was the theme of his recent address to the Shelby Lions Club. Special guests at that meeting included members of the Lawndale Lions Club. “A lot of what you see is not normal policing,” he SHELBY POLICE CHIEF told the Lions. “The world is different today than it was 15 years ago. We’ve got to put a human face with that badge.” According to Chief Ledford, Shelby officers are cracking down on illegal drugs and illegal guns. They go to problem houses and ask how they can help. “Partnership with landlords is getting better,” he said. “We help them get better tennants.” The Shelby Department sees little turnover these days, according to Ledford.
