WALKER JAMES BRACKETT Walker James Brackett, of Shelby, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Born in Mecklenburg County, on December 13, 2023, he was the infant son of Connor Stephen Brackett and Madison Michaela Grigg Brackett of Shelby. In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother Everette Brackett; a sister, Kadie Brackett; grandpar- ents; and great grandpar- ents. CAROLYN MOORE SHERRILL Carolyn Moore Sherrill, 81, of Blacksburg, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. Born in Gastonia, NC, she was the widow of Donald "Bill" Sherrill and the daugh- ter of the late Harry Allen Moore and Thelma Hall Broome. Surviving Mrs. Sherrill are a brother, Lee Moore, and a sister, Cheri Lecroy. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sherrill was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Price and Barbara Williams. Funeral services were held December 20, 2023 in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel. Interment was at Clingman Memorial Gardens. HERMAN TURNER Herman Turner, age 91, of Forest City, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Herman was born Wednesday, March 30, 1932 in Rutherford County to the late Darvin Turner and Estelle Sisk Turner. Mr. Turner served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ensley Turner; brothers, David, Bill and Donald Turner; sis- ters, Margaret Head, Debra Coffee; and brother-in-law, Monroe Ensley. He is survived by his daughter, Meloney Tuner Overcash (Thad) of Forest City; brothers, Frank Turner (Helen), Brannon Turner (Etta Mae), Broadus Turner (Aileen); sisters, Myra Conner, Christine Hodge, Patsy Edwards (Lewis); and sister-in-law, Midgie Ensley. The funeral service was held December 19, 2023 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Mike Elgin officiating. Inetta is survived by her two sons, George "Billy" Green, Jr. (Serelyn) of High Point, NC and André Green of Charlotte, NC; two grand- children; her siblings, Lena Ann Boykins of Kingstown, NC, Charles Boykins (Liz) of Abiline, TX, Willie Gene Boykins of Kingstown, Janet Boykins of Greensboro, NC, Denise Logan (Morgan) of Boiling Springs, NC, Darlene Boykins and Rhonda Boykins both of Shelby and Linda Wilson (James) of Kingstown, NC. Funeral services were held December 18, at Palmer Grove Baptist Church. Burial took place in the church cemetery. He was born on August 26, 1947 in Shelby, NC to the late Roosevelt and Virgil Guest. In addition to his parents, Bryan is preceded in death by two sisters Janet Parker and Mary Guest Willis, one brother Sam Guest and a son Bryant Guest Jr. He is survived by two broth- ers, Benjamin (Jacquelyn) Guest of Charlotte, NC and Leonard (JoBeth) Guest of Camp Lejeune, NC; one sister, Martha (Harvey) Barash of Manhattan, NY; eight children: Anthony (Delleni) Guest, Stacey (Corey) Degree, Lasandra Oates, Lakeisha Linder, Rodney (Nadia) Guest, Nelson (Dena) Guest, Fredrick (Kayleia) Guest, and Nina Brooks; and a host of grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
