An estimated 2,000 East Rutherford alumni attended the reunion. Members of the organizing committee presented the check to the East girls softball coach Laura Ray, who is spearheading the drive to construct a facility for female athletes on the campus. Also representing the school at the presentation were principal Tim Torvinen and athletic director Phillip Russ. Torvinen said the proposed facility will mirror other campus facilities and will serve female athletes at the school for many years. The plan is to begin construction when $100,000.00 has been raised. The check presented today raises the total received so far to approximately $98,000. Anyone wishing to contribute to the construction of the facility may call the school for information about making a donation.
