Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland County 2023 Youth of the Year Joresa Lawrence celebrated her accomplishment along with other youth of the year from around the state in March of 2023 at the Governor's Man- sion in Raleigh. Joresa Is a 2023 Shelby High School graduate and current West- ern Carolina Freshman. She was a 10 plus year member of the club starting when she was only 6 years old. Joresa had always been a very shy and timid young girl but through our charac- ter development programs like Smart Moves and Smart Girls Joresa learned to find her own voice and gained confidence to try new things. This led to a successful high school career as an ROTC officer and softball player. Joresa said " The Club lit a flame in me the world will never be able to extinguish".
