Sallie Cowan, KidSenses Board Member and "chief of golf operations" ensured that everything was good to go. Rutherford County Commissioner Dave Hunt (the museum's "offi cial" golf tournament advisor), and museum Executive Director Willard Whitson said a few words of encouragement, reminding the players of the worthiness of the cause and urging them to go out and have fun – just like we do every day at the Museum. Amid a literal cloud of smoke, a bagpiper played some Celtic melodies and nearly 90 golfers headed for the links to do just that. This was the start of the second annual fundraising golf classic held at the spectacular Cleghorn Golf and Sports Club. Mixing sports metaphors, Whitson said, "We knocked it out of the park! Throughout the day we heard comments from players saying that this tournament was the best they've been to, the most fun they ever had on a golf course. It was truly a joyful day. We are so very grateful to the many sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible." We are also grateful to the teams themselves and the many other individuals and organizations who made donations. Players were treated to delicious food and beverages. No one went hungry or thirsty! "As a Kidsenses Board Member and Managing Partner of King Law Offi ces, I can confi dently say that the 'Fore the Kids' charity Golf Tournament on May 19 was an extraordinary experience. Our fi rm's three teams had an absolute blast throughout the day, while knowing that our participation was making a meaningful impact in the lives of children. Being a part of this remarkable charity event has truly touched our hearts, reminding us of the immense power of collective support and compassion. We are honored to have been involved and look forward to continuing our unwavering commitment to the invaluable work of Kidsenses." said Brian W. King, Kidsenses Board Member and Managing Partner of King Law Offi ces. KidSenses Children's Interactive Museum is located at 172 N. Main Street in Historic Downtown Rutherfordton. Rutherford Regional Health System received an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofi t upholding the standard of patient safety in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. This national distinction celebrates Rutherford Regional's achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm and errors. The new grades refl ect performance primarily during the height of the pandemic. "The pandemic was a tough time for health care entities across the world, but we are proud to show that our teams maintained the level of high-quality care we are known for despite these added challenges," said Tory Shepherd, CEO. "Earning a Leapfrog A in both Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 is a big achievement for our hospital and a testament to the care we provide. We look forward to maintaining our commitment to patient safety as we continue to move forward, expand our services, and grow to serve our community." The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an "A," "B," "C," "D" or "F" grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures refl ecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. "This new update of Hospital Safety Grades shows that, at the national level, we saw deterioration in patient safety with the pandemic," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "But this hospital received an 'A' despite those challenges. I congratulate all the leaders, staff, volunteers and clinicians who together made that possible." The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
