The experiences of life's journey can offer valuable lessons. A wise traveler will be able to identify life's pitfalls and will have gained the ability to navigate its twists and turns. One of the most valuable lessons to learn is that life seldom offers a do-over. Once certain roads have been traveled, there won't be a second chance to travel them again. How many people are living in despair because they are dealing with a regretful past? They desire a do-over, but it is impossible. People waste valuable time and emotional energy in searching for ways to relive yesterday. From our fi rst attempt to walk as a toddler to becoming a senior adult, life is about learning how to deal with our missteps and losses. The totality of our life will be determined by what we do with crushed hopes and diminished expectations. Surrendering to our defeats will only make life more diffi cult. If there is going to be any hope for the future, we must gather the strength to get back up and try again. There is something liberating about putting the past behind us and looking forward to a new day. Using the diffi cult lessons of life as steppingstones instead of allowing them to be stumbling blocks, will be the answer to our depression and despair. Even though life doesn't offer do-overs, each day brings a chance to make a better choice when an opportunity arises. Just remember, we cannot change yesterday, and there is no guarantee of tomorrow. It is what we do with today that makes life count.
