What he found was a ca- reer he wanted to pursue. Apprenticeship Cleveland is providing him a path to success. "The reason I like work- ing in the HVAC industry is because the job changes every day. I use the same skills and knowledge but every day I am presented with a new problem or job that is completely different than the last one." By the time Brown grad- uated from high school he had completed an HVAC certificate tuition free thanks to the Career and College Promise (CCP) program. CCP allows high school juniors and seniors to take CCC's classes tuition-free. Because HVAC techni- cians are in demand, Brown was hired as a youth ap- prentice by Shelby Heating & Air before he graduated high school. Now, he is con- tinuing his education tuition free and earning a living be- cause he and his employer are participating in Appren- ticeship Cleveland. "As someone who grew up in Shelby and attended Cleve- land Community College, I was definitely on board to help with this apprentice program and have Maddox join our team," said Josh Harrison, owner of Shelby Heating & Air. "I remember what it was like to be new to this industry and now the tables have turned. It feels good to be in a position to help someone like Maddox get started." While Brown starts his first career, Doug Womack is an apprentice moving into a new phase of his life. After serving 22 years in the Army, Womack joined the workforce at Greenheck Fan Corporation. While working, he began using his GI Bill benefits to take classes at CCC. The lead- ership at Greenheck saw Womack's potential and chose him to be their first employee to go through the apprenticeship program. A Greenheck represen- tative stated that "Doug Womack has always been a valuable and strong em- ployee at Greenheck. His existing knowledge, willing- ness to learn, and the traits obtained through his military background made Doug an ideal candidate to be the first Greenheck employee MADDOX BROWN DOUG WOMACK (5th & Final Part of the "THANKFUL" series) In the final part of the "Thank- ful" series, I am grateful for Salva- tion. I saved the best for last. In the Greek translation, the word for salvation is "sorteria". It means that God rescues and delivers be- lievers out of destruction and into His safety. It includes welfare, prosperity, deliverance, safety, preservation, and salvation. It's also connected to the Greek word "sozo" which is similar to sorteria. It means to save, heal, preserve, and rescue. WOW! The Father's salvation plan covered everything to restore "that which was lost," and he did it all because of his immense love for us. Romans 5:8 (NLT) "But God showed his great love for us by send- ing Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." The Garden of Eden Humanity dropped the ball, and fell into sin, but be- fore they disobeyed God, they had a lot going for them. They had intimate and perfect fellowship with God. They lived in a beautiful, prosperous environment supplied with everything they needed. They had strong healthy bodies, and a high level of knowledge and abilities. However, rebellion brought a curse into their lives, the earth, and generations to come. They were banished from the gar- den, and were forced to experience difficulty, pain, and sorrow. However, the mercy of God already had a plan of restoration through salvation by Jesus Christ. Paul echoes God's declaration from Genesis that foreshadows how Jesus would die a painful death, but in return he would an- nihilate the devil's power. In Romans 16:20 (NIV), Paul states, "The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet…." The Best Gift Salvation is a gift that not only impacts a person's life on the earth, but also in eternity. John 11:25 (AMP) - Jesus said to her, "I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, relies on) Me [as Savior] will live even if he dies." If you haven't re- ceived this amazing gift, my prayer is that God will reveal to you how real he is, how much he loves you, and how surrendering your life to him is the best decision you will ever make. The first step is to believe in Jesus Christ and what he has done for you. Then, ask God to forgive you for your sins and to become the Lord of your life. I have walked this journey with the Lord for a while, it has not always been easy, but it truly has been worth it!!! PRAY THIS PRAYER: "Lord, I confess you as my Lord and Savior. Forgive me when I have failed you in wicked thoughts, ungodly words, and wrong deeds. I don't want any tension in our relationship. You are good, loving and merciful. Please cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Help me to live for you and please you. Thank you for dying for my sins. You were punished instead of me, and I am eternally grateful. I also praise you for giving me a joyful, wonderful life. I recognize that all my blessings come from you. In Jesus' name I pray - Amen." Danyale Patterson would love to hear from you! Womack is nearing completion of his appren- ticeship and will earn his journey worker credential in Millwright from the U.S. Department of Labor next year. He has already com- pleted several certificates and a diploma in Indus- trial Systems Technology. "Having the opportunity to work with seasoned pro- fessionals on the job has helped me translate what I learned in the classroom to real world applications in my industry," said Wom- ack. In addition, Womack said, "I have met instruc- tors who guided me through the curriculum and continued to be there for me, willing to answer questions long after com- pleting their classes. This has allowed me to develop professional relationships that I can use as a re- source in the future." With an aging work- force in skilled trades, employers are having dif- ficulty finding experienced plumbers, electricians, mechanics, and other crit- ical workers. Apprentice- ship Cleveland benefits employers by building a pipeline of trained employ- ees and provides workers a path to learn valuable skills while earning a good wage. DANYALE PATTERSON
