Shirley was born on October 10, 1931. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Ruby Whisnant and her sister Lillian of Lawndale, NC. A graveside service was held November 22, 2022 in the Rose Hill Memorial Park. Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Fallston has been entrusted with the services. PENNY LEE STONE Penny Lee Stone, 69, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, November 19, 2022. She was born on July 25, 1953 in Gastonia to Hubert and Ruth Todd Stone. She is survived by two brothers, David Stone and wife Patricia and Grady Stone. Funeral services were held November 23, 2022 at Allen Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Reece Elliott officiating. She was born April 26, 1925, in Cleveland County to the late Albert Dent and Lottie Crowder Harris. EVELYN PARKER LEATHERMAN Evelyn Parker Leatherman, 96, of Lincolnton, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022. Born in Gaston County, NC on October 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Reid Parker and Cordie Wright Parker. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Leatherman, Jr.; sister, Lois Graham and five brothers, Clinton Parker, John Parker, Blaine Parker, Hoyte Parker and Reid Parker. Survivors include son, Steven Parker Leatherman and wife, Debbie of Miami, Florida, son, John F. Leatherman, III and wife, Joan of Salisbury, daughter, Barbara L. Skinner and hus- band, Steve of Blacksburg, VA, and son, Michael Frank Leatherman and wife, Cindy of Charlotte; eight grand- children; five great grand- children; two brothers, Ray (Mary Lou) Parker of Lincolnton and Stowe Parker of Burlington; and a sister, Edna Brendel of Cherryville. JANICE McSWAIN CABANISS Janice Mcswain Cabaniss, 84, of Shelby, NC passed away on November 4, 2022. Born in Shelby, NC, she was the daughter of the late Scheiman and Docia McSwain. In addition to her parents and her husband, George Turner Cabaniss Jr., Janice is preceded in death by four siblings: Hazel McSwain, Farris McSwain, Broadus Howard McSwain and Shirley McSwain Funderburke. She is survived by her children: Sandy Darnell (Joe), Lorah Gold (Ned); two grandchildren; and a sister, Marcelle McSwain Hamrick. Born in Gaston County, on June 1, 1937, she was the daughter of the late James Adrian Mincey and Vennie Melton Mincey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Perry, Carl, Johnny and Junior and three sisters, Opal, Joy and Louise. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Eugene Bumgardner; two sons, Daniel Bumgardner of Lawndale and Esper Bumgardner and wife, Shelia of Mooresboro; four daugh- ters, Inez Johnson of Forest City, Janie Dobbins of Forest City, Diane Bumgardner and husband, David of Forest City and Jeannie Byers and hus- band, Randy of Arkansas; sister-in-law, JoAnn Mincey of Boiling Springs; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant great grandson; his brother, Billy Steve Greene and sister Geraldine Greene Kepley. Joel is survived by his three children, Kim Greene, Chris (Tammy) Greene and Gina Varner, all of Shelby; his brothers, Gilbert Greene, Carl (Wanda) Greene; his sister, Barbara (Ron) Ivie; brother-in-law, Darius Kepley; five grandchildren; and twelve great grandchil- dren. In addition to her parents, Lori is preceded in death by her sister Billie McCurry. Lori is survived by three children Christina Bolin, Jami Pass and Darrell Bolin, as well as, her sister, Judy Pope.
