Lady Titan soccer improves to 3-0 with 6-1 win over Boonville By Andy Heuring Press-Dispatch Sports sports@pressdispatch.net Gibson Southern's girls soccer team ran their season record to 3-0 and 2-0 in the conference with a 7-1 win over Boonville last Thursday night. Ella Jones had three goals and Riley had two to lead the Titans. Claire Higginbotham and Halle Pohl each added one goal. "We are happy with the win, it puts us at 2-0 in the confer- ence. The team did a good job executing things that we worked on in practice. Kaleigh Baehl is a senior defender and has done a great job of leading the defense, controlling the ball from the back to maintain possession," said Coach Sylvia Adler. She added, "Riley Bryant and Ella Jones did a better job of making runs as forwards and receiving passes from the midfield. Hailey Richter, Claire Higginbotham and Halle Pohl have all gotten better at pass- ing and moving in the middle of the field and taking more shots from outside the 18. I think what we still have left to work on is defending and marking up in the midfield." Gibson Southern scored four goals in the first period and then added two more ear- ly in the second period to go up 6-0. Once the sixth goal was scored, Adler sent in the reser ves and the game ended with the Titans up 7-1. On Monday the Titans beat South Spencer 6-0 with Jones scoring two goals in that game. Br yant, Br ylie Kern, Leah Kramer and Nola Ravel- lette each scored one goal in the win over South Spencer. The Titans opened the sea- son with a 2-0 win over South Knox.
