"Tiny" Corn, 60, of Winslow, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in an automobile accident north of the Arthur Junction. He was born July 27, 1961, in Oakland City, to Darrell and Lori (Townsley) Corn. He married Sheila Rose Pro- haska on July 22, 1989, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Oakland City. He was a delivery driver for MFA Oil; and enjoyed an- tiques. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Rose Corn, of Winslow; his special family, Marilyn and Jim Heidorn, of Huntingburg; and the apples of his eye, Angie and Jessica Heidorn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmoth- er, Peg Prohaska Corn; and one brother, Dale "Tiny" Corn. O'Neal, 80, of Oak- land City, entered into rest on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Mattoon, Ill. on August 20, 1941, to the late Cecil Ealy and Gladys Turner. She spent most of her working life as a homemak- er having worked in home healthcare. She also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, working in her garden, and spending time with fami- ly and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, especially the game up and down the riv- er. She also enjoyed games involving marbles and was highly competitive some- times pointing the finger at the one who may be cheating. She is survived by her lov- ing husband, Amel O'Neal, whom she has been married to for 17 years; daughters, Servella (Mick) Weiner, of Fransisco, Cindy Stangle, of Vincennes; one granddaugh- ter; two grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ever- ette Ealy; and sisters, Shirley Spence, Sandy Wright, Don- na Bullock, Edith Fansler, and Betty Walker. LambBasham.com ROBERT "STEVE" CUNNINGHAM Robert "Steve" Cunning- ham, 75, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday evening, July 28, 2022, after a lengthy battle with AL S. Steve was born in Paoli, on June 26, 1947, to Merrill "Bud" Cunningham and Dorothy Jones Cunning - ham. He graduated from Paoli High School in 1965 and Indiana University in 1970. He was the Director of Pike County Division of Child Services, retiring in 2011. While still in high school, and before he could drive, he "soloed" for his private pilot's license. While at - tending IU, he was a student trainer for the basketball, baseball and football teams, including the 1967 Rose Bowl team. In the middle years of his life, Steve's faith was strengthened by The Walk to Emmaus, and the men who mentored him during that time. He was an active member of the Free Meth - odist Church, serving on the Church Board, and as lay delegate. His primary hobby was "all things train," especial- ly Monon. His interest was fueled at a young age by his father and grandfather, who worked for the railroad. He was actively involved in the Monon Historical Soci- ety, serving as Chair of the Membership Committee and Treasurer. He is survived by his loving wife, Jan; his son, Jeff (Destiny); daughter Sommer ( James) Tucker; two stepdaughters, Amber (Branson) Phillips, and Me - gan ( Jason) Vanzant; grand- children, Jared (Bryce) Cunningham, Shelby Rob- bins, Mason Buchanan, Max Cunningham and Cole Phillips; one great-grand- son, Kai; sister, Christy (Calvin) Wineinger; niece, Amy Gehlhausen; nephew, Aaron (Melissa) Stanley; and cousins that he re- mained close to throughout his life. Bolin, 72, of Winslow, entered into rest on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital, in Evans- ville, surrounded by his lov- ing family. Ray was born on Septem- ber 5, 1949 (Labor Day that year) to the late Denver L. and Laura Anna (Henson) Bolin at their home in Muren. In his working life, he was employed by the Indiana De- partment of Transportation where he worked as a me- chanic until he retired after 32 years. He was always a strong family man and loved spend- ing time with them and AL - WAYS put them in front of himself. His grandchildren were always his pride and joy always picking on them and teaching them new tricks. He loved camping and spending time outside and always took pride in his yard and garden. He loved deco- rating for Christmas and was honored to win several coun- ty and city contests. He never met a stranger and hardly had anything bad to say about anyone except, "they are just a little differ- ent." He was truly a deeply loved man and will be deeply missed. LambBasham.com WILLIAM "BILL" D. SHIMER William "Bill" D. Shimer, 68, of Haysville, passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in Memorial Hospi- tal and Health Care Center, in Jasper. Bill was born in Washing- ton, on December 20, 1953, to Charles and Martha (Be- ment) Shimer. He married June Neukam on April 17, 1982, in Precious Blood Cath- olic Church in Jasper. He was a 1973 graduate of Petersburg High School; this was the last graduating class for that school. He was a United States Army Veteran, who served in Vietnam. He was currently working for Jasper Engines and Transmissions. He was very passionate about the Northeast Dubois Marching Band and attend- ing their events. He enjoyed Legos, Dungeons and Drag- ons, and reading. Surviving is his wife, June Shimer, of Haysville; two sons, Joseph Shimer, of Hays- ville and Zachary Shimer, of Muncie; two sisters, Terri (Thomas) Papai, of King- swood, Texas, and Yvonne "Annie" (Bert) Brittingham, of Frisco. Preceding him in death are his parents; and an infant son, William Joseph Shimer. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Be- cher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, with Pastor Timothy Kraemer officiating. The V.F.W. M cGOWAN Dale Edward McGowan, 71, of Oakland City, passed away July 28, 2022, at Dea- coness Henderson Hospital. He was born June 22, 1951 in Princeton. He served in the United States Navy during the Viet- nam Conflict on the USS En- terprise. He was a past mem- ber of the VFW and American Legion. He worked for over 35 years as a truck driver and between his job and service in the Navy he visited all 50 states. He married Kozetta Diane ( White) McGowan on June 22, 2019, in Oakland City and she survives. He was loved and respected by many. He was someone you could count on and would help any- one out when he could. He will be missed beyond mea- sure. Along with his wife, Kozetta, of Oakland City, Dale is survived by his chil- dren, Wendy McGowan, of Princeton, Heath (Tonya) McGowan, of S. SCHOPPENHORST Steven Michael "Schoppie" Schoppenhorst, 63, of Hunt- ingburg, passed away on Sun- day, July 10, 2022, at the Uni- versity of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He was born September 17, 1958, in Huntingburg to Ray Franklin and Louise (Ingle) Schoppenhorst. He married Valerie Jean Mullen on No- vember of 1979 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Antho- ny. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg, where he served as a cantor and choir member. He worked as a car- penter in furniture manufac- turing and as a K J-DJ. He was a true family man, a wonderful father and hus- band, and loved taking trips with his grandkids. He also had a passion for karaoke and creating intricate wooden toys. He enjoyed playing San- ta Claus during the holidays and also played Batman for several charitable causes. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Schoppenhorst, of Huntingburg; three children, Stephanie (Steve) Grierson, of Jasper, Joshua Schoppen- horst, of Oakland City and Jennie (Richard) Hoffman, of Huntingburg; two sisters, Vicki ( Jr.) Meyerholtz, of Vel- pen and Karen (Kevin) Hoff- man, of Ferdinand; and seven grandchildren. STEVE SMITH It is with great sadness that the Smith family announces Steve's passing on July 29, 2022 at 60 years old. Steve came into the world on October 23, 1961 in Evans- ville, IN to Jerry and Mary Jane (Dedman) Smith. He attended the University of Evansville where he met the love of his life, Julie Davis. Steve and Julie were married on November 3, 1984. They share two children, Josh Smith and Shaye (Michael) Fata. From a young age, Steve was a lover of all things sports, especially basketball. He attended UE basketball games as an alumnus for 30 + years. He enjoyed the creativ- ity of cooking, trying new cui- sines and sharing the details with the people closest to him. He thoroughly enjoyed connection and was chari- table towards personal and professional development of the community through his years working at Habitat for Humanity, staying actively involved in the Purple Aces Club and his local BNI chap- ter. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Jerry, and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife Julie, his children Josh and Shaye as well as his mother, Mary Jane and brother Mike Smith.
