I reject the false narratives pro- fessed as truth. I write about issues from MY Christian per- spective. You may not agree with me but let us embrace the words of John Wesley: "Though we cannot think alike, may we not love alike? May we not be of one heart, though we are not of one opin- ion? Without all doubt, we may. Herein all the children of God may unite, notwithstand- ing these smaller differences." I publish my columns on my Facebook page several weeks after running in this newspaper. Friends often share my articles on their Facebook page. People from China and Africa are reading and commenting on my arti- cles. I usually receive good feedback on my articles, of- ten several dozen thoughtful replies. I seldom receive any negative feedback. Last week I posted my article. "Abortion a National Tragedy." Hardly a peep from anyone. No feed- back. Eerily silent. What am I to make of this silence? Perhaps the ONLY time in church histor y when Chris- Welcome to another week of my normal life so others will realize their week just maybe normal after all. I have always wondered why things happen and how they happen, but the answer always comes out the same, sometimes good things hap- pen to bad people and some- times bad things happen to good people. It's called life and no matter what comes we need to deal with it. It really helps when you can accept God's help. My wife's MRI tur ned out to show that her problem was not dire and we could ignore what was found un- less it star ts to bother her. Good news to me because I was really concer ned about her. Maybe she'll be able to really feel better now know- ing it isn't quite as bad as it could have been. Driving in Evansville is becoming a challenge for me. I have trouble watching all the traf fic. I really don't think I caused the prob- lem on the Lloyd, because I looked in all directions before I signalled to make a lane change. I star ted to change lanes and came danerously close to driving into the side of a car which already changed lanes. It's your attitude Many people fear that they will never reach heav- en. Some tr y not to think about it, while others str ug- gle to "be good," hoping that they will finally "make it." Ver y few, comparatively, are sure of heaven. The real pity is that so few understand what it is that keeps people out of heaven. If you are confused about this, just remember that ac- cording to Scripture, it is not one's sins that keep him out of heaven, but his attitude. God has made full pro- vision for our sins. "Christ died for our sins" (I Cor. 15:3) and "we have redemp- tion through His blood, the forgiveness of sins ac- cording to the riches of His grace" (Eph. 1:7). But God has made no pro- vision for a self-righteous at- titude. He gave the Law "that ever y mouth may be stopped and that all the world may be brought in guilty before God" (Rom. 3:19). Thus He does not want you to keep saying things in your own defense. In fact, before you can know God as your Sav- ior, you must recognize Him as your Judge, righteously condemning you as a sinner. Often, when capital crimes are involved, the de- fendant's attor ney will tell him: "It will be to your ad- vantage to plead guilty and to throw yourself on the mercy of the cour t." This is especially tr ue of us as sin- ners in the sight of a holy God. If we will only plead guilty and cast ourselves upon His mercy we will find Him more than gracious, for He has already paid the penalty for our sins Himself. Yes, unsaved friend, it will be to your eter nal ad- vantage to plead guilty before God and to cast yourself upon His mercy, "for the wages of sin is death, but THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD" (Rom. 6:23). "How lovely is your dwell- ing place, O Lord of Heaven's armies, I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole be- ing, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God" (Psalm 84:1,2,3 NLT), The writer longed to get away from the bustling world to meet God inside his dwell- ing place, his holy Temple. We can meet God anywhere, at any time. But we know that going into a church building can help us step aside from the busy mainstream of life so that we can pray and meditate. We find joy and strength not only in prayers but also in fel- lowship with other believers, the sermon and the music in such a special place. We are remembering those in pray who are in need of healing, whether it is physical or spiritual. May the Lord hear and answer our prayers. We invite you to worship with us.
