She was born in Oakland City, on April 20, 1964, to Eu- gene Brittain and Marna (Gil- liland) Brittain. She was a member of Muren Church of God in Winslow, for over 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her fam- ily, especially caring for her grandchildren and her dog, Rocky Doodle. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping, and watching movies. She is survived by her hus- band of 27 years, Thomas Dixon whom she married on July 2, 1994; children, Ash- ley (Chance) Hamm; Am- ber ( Waylon) Walters; Aus- tin Dixon; grandchildren, Paisley, Easton, Kaden and Kalen Hamm; siblings, Da- vid (Becky) Brittain, Jim (Su- san)Brittain, Grace (Gordon) Craig, Beverly Weitkamp; ma- ny nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Marna (Gilliland) Brittain; brother, Mark Brittain; and granddaughter, Demma Ha- vens. Services are 2 p.m. EST Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, in Oakland City, with Pastor Clint Woolsey officiat- ing. Burial will be in Ashby Cemetery, in Winslow. LambBasham.com BET TY LOU LUKER Betty Lou Luker, age 90, of Huntingburg, passed away at 4:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Northwood Retire- ment Community, in Jasper. She was born July 18, 1931, in Huntingburg, to Earl Sr. and Corilla (Blessinger) Luker. She worked at the Palace of Sweets in Huntingburg for many years. She also worked at Tartan Factory and retired from Dubois Wood Prod- ucts. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg; and enjoyed bak- ing and watching old cowboy movies. She is survived by one brother, John (Irma) Luker, of Otwell; three sisters, Pat- ty Leinenbach, of Ferdinand, Mary Jane (Linus) Voegerl and Eileen (Don) Patberg, both of Huntingburg; and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Phyl- lis Schulte; and one brother, Earl Luker, Jr. A Mass of Christian Buri- al will be at 10 a.m. EDT, on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Huntingburg, Father Biju Thomas will officiate. Obituary Deadline Every Monday at 5 p.m. RONALD WAYNE WOODS Ronald "Ron" Wayne Woods, 84, of Campbelltown, passed away Monday May 16, 2022, at Gateway Hospital. Ron was born to Vernie Si- mon Woods and Virdia Ol- ive (Nance) Woods on Sept 5, 1937, in Campbelltown. He married Ruth A. Griffith on Ju- ly 12 1958, at Pleasant Ridge General Baptist Church. His father was the minister for the wedding. Ruth preceded him in death on Dec, 15, 2009. He worked at Whirlpool from which he retired in 2002. He was Caretaker for Pleasant Ridge Cemetery for over four decades. He was Past Mas- ter of the Winslow Masonic Lodge; member of the Scot- tish Rite and The Sword of Bunker Hill. The motto for The Sword of Bunker Hill is "When We Meet We Eat". He loved to go out and eat while enjoying the company of oth- ers. He was fun loving and en- joyed teasing and quick wit- ted comebacks. He was ac- tive in both Pleasant Ridge General Baptist Church and Petersburg First Church of God where he attended until the Covid Pandemic. He was a hardworking man that en- joyed life and held no grudges. He spent the last three years living with his daughter who will miss him, even though he called her a grumpy boss. He is survived by his daugh- ter, Renee Pirkle; and two nephews, Leon and Larry Woods. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; and two brothers, Bill and Er- nest Woods.
