Born in Cleveland County on January 7, 1991, he was the son of Starlyn Sims and James Lee Whisnant, Jr. In addition to his par- ents, Cody is survived by his siblings, Lee Whisnant (Chastity), Jennifer Osganian (Greg), Tucker Whisnant (Blair); and his grandparents. J L was born in Gaston County, NC on July 21, 1926 a son of the late Charlie Clayton Sellers and Mary Ella Sellers. Mr. Sellers served our country in the U.S. Navy during grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Mary Lachman of PA; her brother, Carl; and her sister, Patricia; her late husband, Michael W. Mangan; and her 2nd born, 1st son, Michael D. Mangan. There will be a private ser- vice for the immediate fam- ily. A celebration of life for her will be held at the home at a later date. JoANN PITTS SMART JoAnn Pitts Smart, age 83, of Ellenboro, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 14, 2022. JoAnn was born Monday, April 18, 1938 in Rutherford County to the late Preston Allen Pitts and Jenny Hollifield Pitts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Smart and her siblings, Dewey Pitts, Bill Pitts, Cophelia Frazier and Ann Bass. Left to cherish fond memories include her two daughters, Robin Dobbins (Bruce) and Rhonda Byers (Randy) all of Ellenboro; son, Jimmy Smart (Renee) of Mooresboro; a sister, Sybil Fisher; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held April 18, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Shane Adkins and Reverend Ricky Poteat officiating. Interment fol- lowed at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Born in Cleveland County on November 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Walter A. Jones and Mada Philbeck Jones. In addition to her par- ents, Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband, John; her sister, Linda Jones Greene; and brother-in-law, Jim Hocker of Moberly, MO. World War II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Pansy Hallman Sellers; two sisters, Ruth Hoyle and Edna Craft; and three brothers, Earl, Walter and Chatman Sellers. Survivors include two daughters, Tresa Ratchford and Lisa Sellers; a son, Blenard Sellers; two grand- children; one great grand- son; two sisters, Mary Jackson of Cherryville and Margie Bess of Kings Mountain; and a brother, Herbert "Hub" Sellers of Lincolnton. Funeral services were held April 18, 2022 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Hendricks offi- ciating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
