Born in Burke County on April 23, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Dorse Lee Lowman and Maude Ann Cloninger Lowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Noah Speagle, one son, Richard Speagle and wife Justina; one son-in-law, C.W. Willis; three brothers, Paul, Grady and Clinton Lowman; and two sisters, Margaret Smith and Ruby Young. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Speagle of Vale and Dr. Ernest Speagle and wife, Debbie of Vale; four daughters, Nancy S. Wright and husband, Hatley of Vale, Gayle S. Willis of Vale, Jo S. Smith and hus- band, Jim of Vale and Lorie S. Yancey and husband, Dean of Vale; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and sixteen great great grand- children. The funeral service was held on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Allen Boliek officiating. JANICE GALE TOMPKINS Janice Gale Tompkins, 66, of 617 Seven Springs Street, Blacksburg, SC, passed away Friday, February 4th, 2022,. Born in Kings Mountain, she was the widow of Roland Tompkins and the daughter of the late James Bolin and entrusted with arrangements. Born in Lexington County, SC, he was the son of Odell and Elizabeth Davis Koon. He is survived by his wife Norma Martin Koon, of the home; his children, Steve Koon and wife Cheryl of Rutherfordton, Stephanie Addis and husband Harley of Indian Trail, Kevin Tolbert and Jamie Tolbert and wife Charity, both of Grover; sisters, Sandy Carl, Sherry Bordeaux and Diane Janicki and husband Jan, all of Batesburg, SC; and eight grandchildren. Born in Cleveland, NC, She was Daughter of the late Sidney Short and Doris Oliver Short and was also preced- ed in death by her husband James "Jim" Ray Wright, son, Larry Ray Wright and a grand- daughter. She is survived by daugh- ter: Kathy Wright Bridges, Kings Mtn. A son: Danny Kaye Wright and Patricia Abernathy, Addie Gunn Bolin. Mrs. Tompkins is survived by one son, Randy Luke of Savannah, GA; one daugh- ter, Christy Gibson (Wayne) of Blacksburg; five grand- children, and her siblings, Robert Bolin, Sandra Risica, and Elaine Fitch. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Batchelor. A funeral service was held February 7th, 2022, at Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC, with the Rev. Michael Owen officiat- ing. CAROLE BRACKETT BOTTOMS Carole Brackett Bottoms, 83, of Casar, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022. Born in Cleveland County, on July 21, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Carmie A. Bracket and Monnie Waters Brackett. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Ray Bottoms, son Michael Ray Bottoms and brother, Mitchell Brackett. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Julia Bottoms Lucas of Casar; and a grandson. The funeral service was held February 10, 2022 in the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel. Born in Cleveland County, NC on January 13, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William Earl Wright and Mildred Elizabeth Harmon Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Gailey. Survivors include her son, Phillip Gailey; one grand- daughter; two brothers, Dennis Wright of Valdese and Donnie Wright and wife, Cheryl of Shelby. A Memorial Service was held on February 11, 2022 at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel. The burial fol- lowed the service in the St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery. DeVeney, 96, resi- dent of Palmetto, Fl, passed away February 1, 2022. He was born in Casar, NC to the late Adam Lee Deveney and Ocie W. Deveney and wid- ower of Betty Allan DeVeney. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also proceeded in death by his brothers Worth Deveney and Stowe Deveney. Mr. DeVeney served our country in the U.S. Military. Surviving are one sister and brother-in- law, Sue D. Allen and Wiley Allen of Kings Mountain; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary N. DeVeney and wife Marie, Charles A.
