She was born May 16, 1937, in Petersburg, to E.L. "Shorty" and Alice June (McGaughey) Howard. She was an LPN and worked at many nursing homes in the area throughout her life. She is survived by her daughters, Audra Edwards Mertz and Kelly Smothers; son, Robert Todd; grandchil- dren, Stephanie Stevens, Jo- ey Buckman II, Tracy Todd, Jenny Smothers, Nicholas Todd, Ryder Todd, Tia Ed- wards and Bryce Messmer; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Michael Howard and Steve McGaughey; and sisters, Shirley Jenkins, Lin- da Evans, Vicki Lagenour, Ju- dy Idle, Sue McGaughey and Sharon Pitcock. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her "mom," Lorna Howard. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg. BILLY JOE WALBURN Billy Joe Walburn, 85, of Francisco, went home to be with the Lord at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born April 19, 1936, in Princeton, to Ira C. and Car- rie H. (Nolan) Walburn. He was a Veteran in the United States Army. He was a faithful member of Christian Holiness Church. He retired as a medicine delivery driv- er for several pharmacies. He loved his family dearly, and he loved to tell others how Jesus saved him. He is survived by his lov- ing wife of 64 years, Wil- ma Maxine (Delk) Walburn; daughters, Teresa (Shan- non) Shehorn and Tina (Ste- phen) Kirkman; sons, Michael ( Jan) Walburn, Rick Walburn and Timothy (Barb) Wal- burn; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Car- rie Walburn; brothers, Lew- is Walburn and Virgil Wal- burn; granddaughter, Falon R. Pauw; and grandson, Aus- tyn Walburn. Private funeral services were at 1 p.m. CST on Tues- day, January 4, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel in Evansville. GENE BOT TOMS, SR. Gene Allen Bottoms, Sr., 78, of Winslow, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, at his home. He was born January 15, 1943, in Petersburg, to the late Sarah Catherine (Sanders) Bottoms and Donald Wood- row Bottoms. He served in the U.S. Army until 1967 and retired in 1994 after 30 + years with Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a lifelong member of the Ameri- can Legion, and spent all of his time enjoying raising chick- ens and rabbits, and spend- ing time with his dog, Daisy. He is survived by his chil- dren, Allen ( Joan) Bottoms, Jason (Erica Webb) Bottoms and David Powers; 12 grand- children; seven great-grand- children; and a sister, Judy Bauer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Bottoms; a daughter-in-law, April Pow- ers; a brother, Donnie Bot- toms; and sisters, Joy Roach and Pansy Morning. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. CST on Friday, Janu- ary 7, 2022, at Corn-Colvin Fu- neral Home in Oakland City, with Pastor Gary Arnold offi- ciating. Interment will follow at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, with Military rites provided by the Oakland City American Legion. MILTON EARL HOLLAND Milton Earl Holland, 69, passed away at Good Samar- itan Hospital in Vincennes on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 6:24 p.m. He was born on Tuesday, February 12, 1952, in Wash- ington, to William Marion and Vonnie Jean (Ropp) Holland. On July 19, 1976, he mar- ried Sandra Gail Shepard and they spent 45 years togeth- er. He loved to put together puzzles, and wash and wax his vehicles. He and Sandra loved to travel. They especial- ly loved Myrtle Beach, where he would sit for hours, watch- ing the waves. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Shepard); his daugh- ter, Carrie (Robert) Burg- er, of Hymera, Ind.; his son, Troy ( Jenny) Holland, of Vin- cennes; three grandsons; his mother, Vonnie Holland, of Pe- tersburg; and his sister, Patty Weathers, of Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his father, William Holland; brother, William "Butch" Hol- land; and sister, Linda Ropp. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan- uary 5, 2022, at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, with Pastor Chad Searls, of the Pe- tersburg Holiness Church, of- ficiating. ROBERT GR AY WADDLE Robert Gray Waddle, 70, passed away Saturday, Decem- ber 25, 2021, in Indianapolis. He was born July 24, 1951, in Vincennes, to Edward "Bus" and Geraldine "Gerry" Waddle. He graduated from Indiana University in 1973 with a Bach- elor of Science in Business. He began a career in banking at the First National Bank in Pe- tersburg and retired at the age of 59 as branch manager of the Home Building Savings Bank, also in Petersburg. He was an active position-holding mem- ber of the Main Street Pres- byterian Church, where he also took part in one of his life's passions, singing in the church choir. His booming voice could also frequently be heard as a member of the Des- perations. He aspired to make a positive impact on his local community, as evident in his service and volunteering in countless organizations and committees throughout Pike County, including The Loy- al Order of Moose, Kiwanis Club, the MSPC, Pike Coun- ty Community Foundation and the Petersburg Little League, to name a few. He truly was a giant of a man in every way and he loved giving back to others. He is survived by his sons, Daniel (Sarah) Waddle, of In- dianapolis, and Robert (Lau- ra) Waddle, of Madison, Wisc.; grandchildren, Isaac Dan- iel Waddle and Audrey Jewel Waddle, of Indianapolis; and brother, Joseph L. Waddle, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (Swift) Waddle. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Main Street Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. There will be a meal provided after the me- morial service for family and friends. RONALD LEE WYANT Ronald "Ronnie" Lee Wy- ant, 74, a lifelong resident of Monroe City, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at 1:25 a.m., surrounded by his loving family. He was born Tuesday, De- cember 23, 1947, to William Wesley Wyant and Imogene F. (Eisele) Adams, in Wash- ington. He loved restoring classic cars, so much so that he even built his own hot rod from the ground up. Over the years, he enjoyed NASCAR racing and watching rodeos on T V. He also enjoyed reading a good western novel. He is survived by his daugh- ters, Stephanie McCandless, of Winslow, and Amanda (Bri- an) Wilson, of Monroe City; four grandchildren; sisters, Donna Carson, of Blooming- ton, and Debra Lamm, of New Palestine, Ind. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae (Ad- ams) Wyant; and his parents. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Goodwin-Sievers Gardner-Brockman Chapel, 505 Main St., Vincennes. Braunecker, 66, of Ireland, passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Memorial Hospi- tal and Healthcare Center in Jasper, surrounded by family. She was born in Jasper on February 18, 1955, to Law- rence E. and Bernita (Huls- man) Stenftenagel. She married Mark A. Braunecker on October 21, 1978, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ire- land. She graduated from Jasper High School and went on to re- ceive her cosmetology degree. She worked at the Ireland Hair Care Center and Jackie's Trav- el in Jasper. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, taking care of her horses, keeping her vehicles clean, cutting hair, tending to her flower beds, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mark Braunecker, of Ireland; one son, Benjamin Braunecker, of Stendal; one grandson; one sister, Carol Wehr; two broth- ers, Brett (Candice) and Scott (Karen) Stenftenagel; and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan- uary 4, 2022, at St. Mary Cath- olic Church in Ireland. Buri- al followed in the church cem- etery. ALICE MARIE ALDRIDGE Alice Marie Aldridge, 78, of Otwell, formerly of Oakland City, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Memo- rial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born on Septem- ber 27, 1943, in Francisco, to the late James Edward How- ard and Alice May (Green) Howard. She married James Al- dridge on January 3, 1964, in Oakland City. She is survived by her chil- dren, Elaine (Gene) Atkins, of Oatsville, William "Bill" Aldridge, of Winslow, and Allison (Bud) Underhill, of Winslow; grandchild, Lucas Cash, of Evansville; and a brother, George "Jim" How- ard, of Oakland City. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ed- ward "Jim Ed" Aldridge, in 2008; children, Harvey Lee Aldridge, in 1965, and Melis- sa Cash, in 2021; and brother, Mike Howard.
