The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, October 27, 2021 D-3 to supply the electric grid. There are many more, but what I have put on paper is enough for you to get the idea of where we are headed if we don't stop and debate our is- sues instead of doing our best to make one another fail. We are doing an excellent job of taking our country down. I have some people wonder- ing what my platform really is and I'm here to tell you I'm a Christian and I would like it if we showed a wee bit of love for one another and start show- ing some compassion instead of in-difference to one another. I'll try to get off my soap box and down to the Ram- blings. It has been a busy week full of helping others and do- ing things which come with the Fall season . I suppose if you say Fall you really mean falling leaves. If I ever sell our home I hope we find one with no trees. I have served my sentence picking up dead limbs and sweeping leaves and I am tired. Each year more and more of their mess waits until the next year to get done. It seems as though I have so many different doctors I go to an appointment or two each month. I take enough medi- cine that I rattle when I walk each morning. Better not com- plain because all of them have me going and running like a well oiled machine. I still have days where I miss on a cylin- der or two. With a little rest I get to purring again. We have started putting decorations up in the park and we have more to go. We proba- bly have another two weeks or so before we are done. Most of the volunteers are retired and are in their 70's so we would love to see a few younger guys show up so we could show how they go up and a few tricks we have discovered over our years of volunteering. You can give me a call at 812-354-9597 for more info. We would love to have you work with us. At Cup Creek Church Sun- day school our teacher is yet discussing Angels in our Sun- day school class. We found out Seraphims were Angels who were ready to defend and cleanse those called to work for our Lord God. Cherubims were Angels who were ready to let love work in the lives of those whom God was work- ing with. Our morning message cov- ered a subject I had never thought of and this is it "what is your best weapon in this life." I was surprised when Rich started speaking about our Faith in God and hope of His love for us. I knew God loves us and I knew we must love Him, but I had never thought about our faith being classified as a weapon. Well let's go out into the world and be blessing show- ing God's love to as many who will accept it. Trunk or Treat Games & Prizes Fun For All ! For More info: 812-582-2320 verse church groups are work- ing side by side to end this in- ternational sex trade. The traf- ficking of women and young girls for prostitution must be stopped. Christians should be concerned, vocal and prayer- ful about this evil in our world. Churches need to be informed and supportive of efforts to stop the evil and minister to those who are rescued. VIEWPOINT Continued from page 1 "Hold fast the form of sound words which thou hast heard of me…" (II Tim. 1:13). "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men…" (2:2). "Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead ac- cording to my gospel" (2:8). The charge to "preach the Word," therefore, refers to "all Scripture" in general, but to Paul's God-given message in particular. This is obvious, for it is in urging Timothy to faithfully carry on in his place that the Apostle charges him to "preach the Word." These were all commend- ed for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. Ordinary people living or- dinary lives. Our names will never be in the news, and we won't have monuments built in our honor. But a life lived with faith in Jesus is never ordinary. Some of the peo - ple listed in Hebrews 11 were not named (vs. 35 -38); they walked the path of obscurity and didn't receive the reward promised to them in this life (vs. 39). Yet, because they obeyed God, their faith wasn't in vain. God used their lives in ways that went beyond their lack of notoriety (vs. 40). If you feel discouraged about the seeming ordinary state of your life, remember that a life lived by faith in God has an impact throughout eternity. Even if we're ordi- nary, we can have an extraor- dinary faith. Josh Sanders, Pastor Sherry Julian, Reporter WHITE RIVER CHAPEL UMC 3555 W. SR 56 Bowman 812-582-8896 Sunday worship 9 a.m.; Sun- day school 10 :15 a.m. We are exploring the words in Philippians 4:4-9 and how they can help us thrive in chaos. So many trials come into our lives and along with the busi- ness of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that passes all un- derstanding—He is in control. Facebook: White River Chap- el UMC, Jeff Pinney. Come and be blessed by the Word. You will not be disappointed . We have now fallen into fall, the sad thing is so many of God's children have fallen in- to a failed state. The Bible says in the last days these things would happen. My prayer is they have an ear to hear what the Spirit is trying to speak in- to their lives and bring back into the grace of God. There are so many things Jesus said would happen in the last days and it's so sad that Satan has deceived them and they think they are now happy, but sad- ness will appear. Pray that a repentive spirit would be birthed into their lives. May we be about the Mas- ter's business. Lift up in prayer your pres- ident, U.S. Congress, your state and local government of- ficials, as the Bible states that we might live a peaceful life. Unimaginable impact You don't know how many people have been strength- ened because you asked God to encourage them; how ma- ny people have been healed because you prayed for their bodies; how many spiritual runaways have come home because you prayed for their souls. None of us may ever know the true effects of our prayers this side of death. But we do know this: History be- longs to the intercessors. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. We will be hosting the fifth Sunday sing on October 31 at 6:30 p.m. Using your talent What are you really good at? Painting? Counseling? Maybe you've never met a car problem you couldn't repair, or you're an amazing chef. Perhaps you just find oppor- tunities to help people wher- ever you go. Whatever your talent or skill is, guess what? God's be- hind it. But He doesn't bless us with talents or skills so we can get noticed or earn lots of cash. Yes, that can be a re- sult of it. But it's so much big- ger than that. God wants us to honor Him with those gifts. He wants us to be "good and faithful servants" with our tal- ents. God doesn't give us any- thing just for our own benefit. In other words, God wants you to use your unique role in the body of Christ to glorify Him. So, if God made you an amazing singer, sing for Him. If your talent is a little less con- ventional—maybe you're good with numbers, then find a way to translate that into a job or volunteer work for a God-hon- oring company or ministry. Use your God-given abilities to reach those who don't know Him—and give Him the cred- it for your talents. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter
