During these challenging times, it is easy to be fearful. Whether it be the threat of COVID, our national security, economic uncertainty or a plethora of other things, we are living in a world of uncertainty. While fear may motivate us to be cautious rather than careless, it can also have a crippling effect on us. As stated before, fear is not primarily bad. It is an emotion that has been given to us to help protect ourselves and those we love. Fear is meant to be a guide, not a set of chains. If you have ever visited the Grand Canyon, you realize that there are some dangerous spots. Fear of falling to your death will keep you from being careless, but if you want to experience the grandeur of the Canyon you must at least be willing to get out of the car. A person who is allowing fear to control them is forfeiting the wonder of being alive. We cannot allow our fears to rob us of vital relationships and those things that God has meant for our good. Let us learn to be cautious but not fearful. Faith and courage are the opposite of fear. As Christians, we must trust our God to do what is best. He is sovereign and loves His children with an everlasting love. We must remember what He promised in Isaiah 41:10, " Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
