Lucy asks their new friend Mr. Beaver, "Is he safe? " inquiring about this king they had heard of named Aslan. Mr. Beaver, pithy an- swer, "Oh no he's not safe, but he's good." Sometimes I won- der if we are just hoping that life in Christ will be safe. We can come to him, get salva- tion, feel good, and eventual- ly go to heaven when the time comes. However, that's rare- ly the case. Imagine the rich young rule or the other young man who came begging to fol- low Jesus, but once confront- ed by the reality that the fol- WINSLOW CHRISTIAN CHURCH Corner of Lafayette and Walnut Pastor 812-753-3539 Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; We extend a warm welcome to everyone. Still to this day when he calls a man, he bids him, come and die. Following Jesus means actively dying to ourselves and living for him. We have to decide that there is no safe shallow end follow- ing him. To enjoy a rich life in Christ, we have to cut the rope. DJ Bryant, Pastor BRENTON CHAPEL CHURCH OF CHRIST 1194 E. CR 400 N. Matthew 19:14, Mark 10 :14 and Luke 18:16: "But Jesus said, suffer little children, and forbid them not to come to me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." I believe these three men wrote this same comment from Jesus to really get our attention on how to teach our children. Forgive me Lord for not obeying these words while my children were growing up. I wish I'd done things a lot dif- ferent now. Jesus wants us to teach our children to be like Him.Je- sus was God in the flesh for the short time He walked on earth. We should intensively ex- press this point to them. I pray you won't do as I have done and not raise them by the word of God and in church, and have to regret it after they are grown and released in the world. Pray for your children that they will put Jesus first in their lives every day. Teach them how to love, not only them- selves but others. Read the Bible to them ev- ery day, so they will learn who Jesus really is, and why God sent him here to die for our sins. Make sure before they go off to start a new life for themselves in this unpredict- able world that they absolutely know that "God is love" and He loves them. Save our children.
