Stam In II Thes. 2:10 St. Paul declares that the apostates of the coming age will "perish, be- cause they received not the love of the truth, that they may be saved." This is something worth considering very seriously. God calls this present dispensation "the dispensation of the grace of God" (Eph. 3:2). During this dispensation faithful Christians are proclaiming "the gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 20 :24). This is the message of God's grace and love in giving Christ to die for our sins so that we might be saved from its penalty and power. All, however, do not believe this glorious message or accept God's grace in Christ. There is no book that has influenced Amer- ica like the Bible. It is loved and read by mil- lions throughout the world. The Bible remains the world's best selling book. Strangely, it never appears on the best- seller list but no book has sold as many cop- ies. At least 57% of the American people read it. The interest in reading the Bible remains as strong as ever. There are more than 60 Bible versions in the English language. Today, there are study Bibles, paraphrases, new translations and for- mats every few years. The two most popu- lar versions are the New International Version and the King James Version. A popular para- phrase, in everyday language, is the Living Bi- ble. One can read through the Bible each year by spending about 20 minutes a day reading. According to the American Bible Society, the complete Bible has been published in 341 languages and the New Testament in 822. At least one book of the Bible is available in 2,092 of the world's estimated 6,000 language dialects. There is a new battle over the Bible as liber- al theologians seek to re-engineer society and to make the Bible gen- der free and politically correct. This is a dan- gerous trend and should be opposed by Chris- tian people. The Bible is very clear regarding issues like abortion, homosexuality and co-habitation. Many seek- er sensitive pastors want sin to be less sinful and make it easy for church members to fit in- to many of the evils in our culture. All true evangelicals believe the Bible makes a clear distinction between men and women. Chris- tians need to stand firm against all efforts to change the Word of God. Hello Dispatch reader I hope you are not froze up and have survived our very harsh week. We were welcomed Monday morning with a little snow and it felt like we were still being spoiled by the weather. Tuesday was an- other surprise as it snowed off and on all day long and even some through Wednesday ear- ly hours. The weather had taken off the gloves and the TLC was withheld. Our neighbor has a tractor and blade and is kind enough to help plow out driveways. He got us so we could get in and out although my wife closed her eyes as we used the driveway and I admit we did have some exciting moments. Storm three of the dreaded forecast put about another two or three inches of new snow on the ground. The only thing good about this snow was that the weather people are saying this should be all for this system, which has been traveling around the United States as it made its way back toward the East. On Thursday I was concerned about getting to Vincennes Good Samaritan hospital to re- ceive my second shot to vaccinate me against the Covid virus. We left early and arrived a cou- ple of hours earlier than my scheduled time but I was greeted with a come on in and get your shot. This is a FYI about an appointment to re- ceive your shot, If you can't make it please ad- vise the vaccine clinic of your inability to be there so they can use the shot somewhere else because they thaw what they need to meet the appointments of the day.
