The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, Januar y 6, 2021 B-5 VIEWPOINT Continued from page 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 3 MINUTES Continued from page 3 Church Note Deadline 10 a.m. Tuesday Presbyterian Wesleyan PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the HANCOCK Every once in a while, a dog enters your life and changes everything. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a perky, young fel- low named Hancock, who is very lively, fun-loving and is a bit of an escape artist, which is why he was surrendered to PAWS. He would do well indoors as he loves people and he would feel no need to es- cape, if he is a house dog. He has some Doberman heritage, is black, tan and white with the cutest ears ever. You must see and ex- perience the warmth this fellow conveys, and his pi- zazz will win you over. To adopt Hancock, call 812- 354-9894. page will help them in their time of sorrow. I hope and pray that 2021 will be the start of our world's healing, but so far all I see is the same old troubles carried over into a new year. I know that the only way for this world to receive the healing it needs we have to pray and atone before God Almighty. He does hold us in His hands but if you are like me He has to turn me around once in awhile. I don't care how many times I get turned around as long as I am doing as He needs me to be doing. Last week I told you about one of our dogs having a growth on his ear and it was bleeding all over the place. I took him to the vet Monday and she was able to remove the growth and cauterize it. I brought him home with a cone to keep him from bothering it. He sure did put on a show try- ing to eat and drink with his cone on. It hasn't bled since the vet worked with him. If you have trouble with people not being able to hear you on your cell phone then you may be able to help it by turning it off and then back on. Seems like at times your phone fails to switch to the closest tower which makes your phone have a harder time transmitting what you are say- ing. It may not work for you but it helped our cell phone problem. Forgot to ask all of you what you did on New Year's Eve or did you stay in at home? We stayed at home and I fell asleep before midnight. My wife did get to see the ball drop on T V and the fireworks in the neighborhood but I missed it all. There are so many sayings about what to eat on New Year 's Day but our family has al- ways had cabbage so we would have money enough to make it through the new year. My wife cooked four heads of cab- bage because I would rather have too much instead of not enough. While she was cut- ting up the cabbage I snacked on the raw cabbage around the core. Most people do not like raw cabbage, but I do. I kidded the family that I proba- bly already ate about ten or fif- teen thousand dollars worth of raw cabbage. Saturday we got ready and went to Princeton to get out of the house. It was good to get out and mess around with nothing in particular in mind to do. We plan to attend Cup Creek's worship service in the morning. I hope you all at- tend worship somewhere and that you go out to be a bless- ing this week. You know God puts people in front of you at times who are just waiting and needing a blessing, please be their blessing. aged to emerge as a new church with no absolutes and memories. The second generation, poisoned by a sinful culture, may have lit- tle memory of the Gospel and the atoning death of Christ. It's our understanding of the Bible that gives us a sense of who we are and bridges the generations. Wealth, technology, pleasures and change can destroy a socie- ty if God is omitted. faithfulness to this promise to His faithfulness to Israel: "For this is as the waters of No- ah unto Me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. "For the mountains shall de- part, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from thee…" (Isaiah 54:9,10). All those who teach that God washed His hands of Israel af- ter they murdered His Son, and will never have anything further to do with her, and took all her promises and gave them to us, are guilty of charging Him with breaking this most solemn vow (Cf. Isa. 49:15; Jer. 31:35 -37). God can do anything He likes, but He cannot forsake Israel, for He has given His Word that He won't, and someday they will once again be His people (Hosea 1:9 -11 cf. Rom. 9:25,26). And He cannot give anyone spiritual gifts, such as proph- ecy and tongues, after vowing that these gifts would "cease" and "vanish away" in the pres- ent dispensation once the Bible was complete (I Cor. 13:8 -10). So don't let anyone tell you that you are limiting God when you insist that these gifts, which are con- spicuously absent in this dispen- sation anyway, are gone. In so saying, we are simply acknowl- edging a dispensational limit that God has placed on Himself. and gospel, comfort and com- mandments, prophecy and promise?
