He was born August 28,1941 in Cleveland County to the late Frank and Lillie Mae Black. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley Owens Black; and brothers G.C. Black and wife Evelyn, Lawrence, Louis, and L.D. Black and wife Marie. Left to cherish Wayne's memories are his two sis- ters, Doris Dabbs and hus- band Pete of Kings Mountain and Mary Francis Greene of Grover. Wayne's funeral ser- vice was held 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Midview Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Rice officiating. Interment followed at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain. LARRY EUGENE MELTON Grover: Larry Eugene Melton left this life after a brief illness on Saturday, August 29, 2020. He was born December 3, 1948. He is preceded in death by his father, Boyd Melton; his mother, Elizabeth Capps Brown; and his wife, Helen Melton. He is survived by his son, Jimmy Melton and wife Tammy; daughter, Tammy Grayson and husband David; step-son, Ronnie Costner; brother, Carl Melton and wife Wanda; sister, Sybil Jones; three grandsons, Mickey Melton was in Mountain View Cemetery. GEORGE FREDERICK CREACH George Frederick Creach, 85, of Polkville, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation Center, Cherryville. He was born January 20, 1935 in Claxton, Georgia to William Frederick and Bessie Mae Gopfert Creach. Mr. Creach served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mickey Creach of Union, South Carolina and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Blanton Creach, son, Jerome (Page Davis) Creach of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Carmen (Darryl) Johnson of Acworth, GA; his grandchil- dren: Adair Creach (Chris) Arbor, Davis Creach, Ashley Johnson (John) Morris, Mary Kathryn Johnson (Lisandro) Sagastume; and three great- grandchildren. Kermit is survived by his wife, Angela Darlene Dover; daughter, Blanca Benitez Dover; siblings, twin brother, Keith Dover (Charlotte) of Cherryville, Torben Prather of Crouse, Pete Prather (Patricia) of Cherryville, Chesley Prather (Michele) of Hickory, Lynn Flowers (Glenn) of Vale, and Janie Flowers (Lou) of Crouse; and mother-in-law, Helen Bradshaw of Lincolnton. He was formerly of Boiling Springs, NC. Jim was born May 30, 1938 to Pearl Harris Ashley and Paul Ashley; and was born and raised on the "Lily Mill Hill" in Shelby, NC. Jim served our country in the U.S. Air Force. Along with his par- ents, Jim was pre- ceded in death by an infant son, Steven Ray Ashley.
