McDonald, III Attorney for Representative McDonald Law Office 120 South Main St. Princeton, IN 47670 (April 29, May 6, 2020) hspaxlp LEGALS LEGALS LEGALS PUBLIC NOTICE OF PLANNED IMPROVEMENT REGARDING PROPOSED BRIDGE WORK ON SR 356, OVER MUD CREEK, 4.69 MILES EAST OF SR 57 e Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is planning to proceed with project DES 1700150, a bridge replacement project on SR 356, over Mud Creek, 4.69 miles east of SR 57 in Pike County. e project limits are 250 feet east and 250 feet west of the bridge center. e need for this project is due to the deteriorated condition of the existing bridge with an overall fair (5 out of 10) structure condition rating. e purpose of this project is to improve the existing structurally insufficient bridge and replace it with a new bridge which will meet a structure condition rating of very good (8 or above) and meet INDOT's current hydraulic performance criteria for bridges (allowable backwater, outlet velocity, and roadway serviceability). e project involves the replacement of the existing bridge with a single span bridge. Incidental construction will include installation of guardrail and the relocation of a field entrance to outside the limits of the new guardrail. Construction of the project may require approximately 1.9 acre of new permanent right- of-way and 0.10 acre of temporary right-of-way. No residential or commercial relocations are anticipated. is project involves federal and state funding sources. e Maintenance of Traffic for the project will require the closing of SR 356 during construction. e official detour route will be signed to maintain traffic. e detour is expected to be in place no more than 12 weeks. e detour route will use SR 257, SR 56, and SR 61 which is 14.9 miles and will add approximately 5.0 miles for traveling motorists. is detour route will include both eastbound and westbound SR 356. FHWA and INDOT have agreed that this project falls within the guidelines of a Categorical Exclusion Level 2 Environmental Document. No significant adverse impacts to the human and natural environment were found during the creation of this document. For stream impacts to Mud Creek a Section 404 Regional General Permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a Section 401 Water Quality Certification from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) will be required.
