She was born January 15, 1977, to Roger and Wendy (Richardson) Messer, in Sa- lem, Ind. She is survived by her husband, Jonathon True- hill; mother, Wendy (Bob- by) Uppencamp; father, Rog- er Dale Messer; daughters, Brooklyn and Marie Mess- er Lortiz; stepson, Leonard Ray Uppencamp, Jr.; broth- er, Mathew Messer; sisters, Amanda (Kenny) Collard and Patricia Flores; grand- parents, William Dodd and Margette Saintclair; and niece, Emily Flores. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lennie Uppencamp. A celebration of life was at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Gospel Cen- ter Church in Petersburg. CHERYL (LAWRENCE) CARLISLE Cheryl (Lawrence) Car- lisle, 66, of the Pikeville community, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at her residence. She was born Septem- ber 21, 1953, in Evansville, to Clifford and Ruth (Kolb) Lawrence. She married Max Carlisle on August 19, 2003, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was a graduate of F.J. Reitz High School in Evans- ville and worked for 39 years at the Vanderburgh County Assessor's Office as an in- heritance tax deputy. She was both Reitz and West Side proud. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Evansville and the Pike County Young Farmers. She loved to travel and attend the Young Farmers state and na- tional conventions, enjoyed socializing with family and friends, and was an avid Pur- due fan, attending as many football games as possible. She is survived by her husband, Max Carlisle, of Pikeville; one brother, Kel- ley (Donna) Lawrence, of Evansville; one niece, An- gela (Lori) Hayes, of Evans- ville; her sister-in-law, Beth ( Jason) Goeppner and fami- ly, Brandon, Corey and Park- er, of Pikeville; her brother- in-law, Rex (Paula) Carlisle and family, Hannah, Levi, Jacob (Carrie), and Taylor, of Stendal; four great-neph- ews; four great-nieces; four great-great-nephews; and one great-great-niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one nephew, Michael Lawrence. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. EST on Mon- day, March 2, 2020, at Zoar United Methodist Church in Zoar, with Pastor Keith Chanley officiating. FR ANCES "MAGGIE" MELHISER Frances Magnetta "Mag- gie" Bellew Melhiser, 93, passed away February 25, 2020, in Petersburg. She was born in West Louisville, Ky., south of Ow- ensboro, on December 28, 1926, to Martin T. Bellew and Anne Elizabeth Clayton. Her mother died when she was 5. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Dr. John M. Clayton and Mary Monina Thompson (Mam- ma Dear). Her other grand- parents were Lilian Cather- ine Carlin Bellew Powell and Martin Thaddeus Bellew. She had 10 Clayton cousins who lived next door to her in West Louisville, whom she loved dearly. She attended Alfonso Ele- mentary School and gradu- ated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in West Louisville, Ky., with her only sibling, her brother, John M. Bellew. She learned her Catholic religion from the Ursuline Sisters of Mt St. Joseph. She was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. She traveled as a young girl with her broth- er to Indianapolis by train through Louisville to vis- it her father's sister, Estelle Bellew Harris (Auntie). She married James E ( Jim) Melhiser, Sr. on July 1, 1950, in Owensboro, Ky., and they had four sons, James E. (Amy), Jr, David L. (Shirley), John B. (Teresa) and Joseph C. Melhiser. She was a mother, home- maker, wife and precious friend. She never drove a car. She quit the smoking habit when she was 73. She was a widow for 34 years. She is survived by her sons, John (Teresa) Melhis- er and Joseph Melhiser; 12 grandchildren, Dana (Mark) Kramer, J. Keith (Georgia) Melhiser, Erin (Brian) Wil- lis, Jessica (Cody) Troutman, Andrea ( Josh) Miley, Krissy Melhiser, Justin (Laci) Mel- hiser, Stella Melhiser, Jen- nifer Melhiser, Lucas (Sky- la) Melhiser, Mark Melhis- er and Jordan Melhiser; 15 great-grandchildren, Colton Kirk, Mackenzie DeWeese, Morgan DeWeese, Madyson Hegedus, Lily Willis, Kenne- dy Willis, Emily Warner, Av- ery Melhiser, Reece Melhis- er, Liam Melhiser, Sadie Wil- lis, Taten Troutman, Paxton Melhiser, Brooks Miley and Adalyn Riley; nieces, Allison Bellew and Bonnie Layton; and nephew, J. Sollman, 78, of Otwell, passed away on Mon- day, February 24, 2020, at his home. He was born June 29, 1941, in Gibson County, and grew up in Fort Branch. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Carpenters union. He was also a Teamster. He loved sprint car racing with his favorite niece, Rhonda, her husband and his very good friend, Gene. He also loved spending time with his dog, Zona. He is survived by two daughters, Angie (Marty) Wade, of Winslow, and Suzi (Bryan) Robinson, of India- napolis; and six grandchil- dren, Sara, Cassie, Wyatt, Jaylon, Keevon and Colton. He was preceded in death by his mom, Mae L. Stun- kel-Sollman; and his sister, Lela Gruebel. Dad insisted on no ser- vice. "Pat" Knight, 73, of Princeton, passed away on February 26, 2020, at Gib- son General Hospital in Princeton. She was born on Decem- ber 14, 1946, to the late Vern Price and Nina ( Williams) Price in Princeton. She mar- ried Richard F. Knight on July 2, 1981, and they have been blessed with 38 years together. She worked at Hanson's Corporation as a line work- er for over 30 years. She was a member of Bethel Memo- rial Church and was a past member of the choir. She was a music lover and en- joyed her lunch dates with her high school friends. She loved her family, especial- ly her grandchildren, and enjoyed collecting McCoy cookie jars, Indian figurines and eagles. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. "Rip" Sorgius and Betty Sue Elli- son, of Otwell. He graduated as Valedic- torian of Otwell High School Class of 1974 and received his Bachelor of Science de- gree in Accounting from University of Evansville in 1978. He was a member of the University of Evansville Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, in which he served as president in 1977. He is the founder of El- lison Distributing, Inc., of Huntingburg. His admira- tion for the agriculture in- dustry began through his family business, Ripco LTD in Otwell. He was passionate about sports, especially bas- ketball and track, eating all kinds of foods, and watching the ocean waves. Most of all, he loved his family and help- ing people, assisting in The Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus and being a servant for Christ. He was a member of the Redemption Christian church of Jasper. He leaves his legacy with his spouse, Lu Ann (Stone- Blue); two sons, Christopher L. (Laura) Blue and Nicho- las R. Blue; five grandchil- dren, Bryce L. Blue, Grant R. Blue, Ian L. Blue, Keaton L. He was born in Pike Coun- ty to the late Frank M. Cre- celius and Martha (Miller) Hurley on September 27, 1933. He graduated high school in Mt. Olympus and served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957. Then he worked as a coal miner for 23 years. He was a Ma- son for 50 years, a past mem- ber of the Evansville Hadi Shrine, and enjoyed fish- ing and being on the golf course. He was loved and will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Crecelius; children, Zoe (Randy) Con- ner, Greg (Tami) Crece- lius, Jeff (Amy) Crecelius and Teilla Sandgreen; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A fter graduating from Pe- tersburg High School, he en- tered the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Sgt. Upon his discharge, he en- tered the United Methodist ministry and pastored sev- eral churches in Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Tommy; sis- ter, Betty Decker, of Peters- burg; and several nieces and nephews. Brigham, 49, of Petersburg, entered rest on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. She was born on Nov. 21, 1970, in Jacksonville, Fla. She was a physical ther- apist for several years and had worked at Pro Rehab. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Eric Brigham; children, Ashley Brigham, of Petersburg, and John Brigham, of Princeton; her mother, Betty (King) Farmer Mires, of Peters- burg; sisters, Laura Farm- er, of Geneva, Switzerland, Cathy Ziebach, of Peters- burg, Nancy Feeney, of Wa- terville, Wash., Patty Fred- erick, of Petersburg, and Carolyn Zimmerman, of Pe- tersburg; and a brother, Pat- rick Farmer, Jr., of Winslow.
