Petersburg seniors meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in the courthouse basement. We received no postcards or notes this week at Sweets Column, Winslow, IN 47598. Winslow Patoka River is up to the rim, but not overflowing. Since we have had rain for two days and then more rain, mix, and snow showers and flur- ries, our precipitation wasn't as much as other towns have had. We had close to an inch here. Our temps were again in the low 50s, but dropped into the low 30s by the end of last week. South of I-64 also had heavy fog, but here in Winslow, it was clear. We have the car- dinals and blue jays still here all win- ter long, but now the blackbirds can be seen in swarms in the sky and in fields. But this past week, I have heard the birds sing and the robins are being seen in our yards. I don't have any but the crocuses are in bloom with their purple colors. The Polar Plunge that was Saturday, Feb. 29 at Prides Creek was advertised on Hwy 57 as the skeletons were in ac- tion as one was already in the water and another was behind the sign ready to jump in. To everyone who was in- volved in this event, we wish you all had a great day and the proceeds were plenty for Special Olympics Indiana. A window is great when it rolls up and down. However when that window is down and won't roll back up, it's a problem because it's still too cold. We got it up with the help of cousin Larry, but now we have to find a place to get it fixed because our windows are our air conditioner when the temp is high. But we have a little more time before that day comes. My mom, Mildred, is here for a visit and change of scenery, and so is Terri Ann, who is feeling much better now. For those who have lived in the ar- eas and had watched Backroads with Hal Woodford, I had heard on the T V with Ron Rhodes that Hal had passed away on or about Feb. 25, 2020. I loved the places Hal traveled to each week and the interesting stories he found out about the places, and the people he met. Those stories are in the archives at the T V station and I hope they show some of those great backroads. I can't wait until March 14, Pi Day, which will be held in the Old Town Hall on Main St., where you can en- joy the different pies brought in for the Winslow Lions to sell to those who love this tasty dessert. We will also have ice cream for those pies if you would like to eat it there with a cup of coffee. We hope this event will be great and we hope to have more first time events to come for our enjoyment. I cannot believe that two months of this year is already gone and we are in March now. March has a lot going on with setting our clocks ahead one hour, St. Patrick's Day, first day of Spring, Pi Day, and the beginning of the Easter Egg Hunts. Depending on the weath- er, it's also spring cleaning days and preparing the garden for those start- er plants to be planted when the freeze or last frost is gone. I can't think of any thing else to talk about right now, but keep an eye on family and friends, and do what you can do if only to listen. Slow down and enjoy your time in your area. Don't be in such a hurry all the time. As al- ways, smile, wave and say "Hi" to ev- eryone you see this week, you might brighten up someone's day. Don't for- get to set your clocks ahead one hour on March 8. REAL ESTATE TRANSFERS Bernice C. Spurr conveys to Cory Keith Booker and Lana S. Weisman, real estate as recorded in Pike County.
