C-2 Church Wednesday, October 30, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued from page 1 Baptist Continued on page 3 When witches go riding and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers "'tis near Halloween." This week, PAWS is fea- turing a bewitching young feline named Cricket, who is a quiet and unassum- ing cat that one barely knows is around. She can often be found sleeping in a sunny window at PAWS. Cricket is a short haired tabby, with black and white fur and large gold- en eyes, is approximately nine months old, spayed and has all her shots. She can be adopted by calling PAWS at 812-354-9894. John wrote in Revelation 22:3, "His ser- vants shall serve Him." Each one will be give the task that suits his powers, his tastes and his abilities. And the Father's house will be a happy home be- cause friends will be there. Have you ever been to a strange place and had the joy of seeing familiar face? No one of us who enters the Father's house will feel lonely or strange, for we who have put our trust in Christ are part of His family, shar- ing Heaven's joys forever with all our brothers an sis- ters in Christ. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I am sure you will receive a blessing from God above. May God bless each and ev- eryone. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Sup- per at 10 :30 a.m. A couple weeks ago, I wrote about giving up. More importantly not giving up. Some of us feel like our life is like that project in the ga- rage, or the jigsaw puzzle on the table, unfinished. Unfin- ished without the urgency or the motivation to finish. And I encouraged, don't give up. You see Paul tells us in the scriptures that we are hard- pressed on every side. That seemingly in life, we feel like life at times is coming down on us from every an- gle. When that happens, we just want to give up. But that isn't where the verse ends. In fact, what Paul actually says is "We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in de- spair. What Paul wants us to know that in Christ, though we are faced with the harsh- est realities, our hope goes VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. You are wel- come to attend these servic- es. Worship Some suggestions on hos to get the most out of church attendance and public wor- ship. 1. Go Gladly: "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord." (Psalm 122:1) 2. Worship Reverently: "Oh, come let us worship and boy down; let us kneel before the lord our maker." (Psalm 95:6) 3. Pray Earnestly: "Con- fess your faults one to an- other, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." ( James 5:16) Because He lives. If you read fur- ther in II Corinthians 4:8 -12 you come to see that though we bear the burden of death in this life, it is Jesus' life that is revealed. Don't give up. Grace and Peace. Otwell (Two miles north of Otwell) Sunday morning service at 9:30 a.m.; children's Sun- day school at 10 a.m.; Bible study, Thursday at 5 p.m. at the church. "Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God" (Ephesians 5: 1-2, NIV ). Dennis and Lisa Patton, Pastors Independent a.m.; Bible studies: Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Brian Ei- lert's house and Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at church. In Psalm 116:12, the psalmist asks what he can give God for all the benefits God gave him. In verse 13, he answers that he will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the Name of the Lord. God gave us life by creat- ing us and offering His own Son for our salvation, yet we do so little for Him in re- turn. In our selfishness, we are too busy looking to feed our own desires of the mo- ment to see or care how it will harm us later, and it will. The new proposed "equality laws" won't really give equal- ity, but take away freedom, because what would be re- quired with those laws is favoritism rather than true equality. Only God can give true freedom and equality, be- cause only He knows the appropriate steps to take to achieve the best outcomes. We must follow His lead, starting with loving and obeying Him and His Word, representing Him the best we can by truly loving oth- ers, which doesn't mean ca- tering to their every whim. We should be thankful for what God has given us and call on Him to help us through, instead of deciding that we are all that counts and this life is the only one available. There is another life waiting for us, but it's being better or worse than this one depends on our re- sponse to the benefits God gave us. Are we going to accept the lies that were placed in us at birth for sinful behav- ior like jealousy, anger, self- ishness, pride, self-hatred, etc? Or are we going to push those lies away, and believe God's Word as the truth it is?
