We're not afraid to shed some light on the truth. 812-354-8500 Brad Mattes featured speaker at Right to Life Banquet Brad Mattes from the Life Institute was the featured speaker at the Daviess, Martin and Pike Right to Life Banquet. Mattes has been involved in the Pro-Life move for more than 45 years. He praised the turn out from the rural community as he said "This is where we get our life blood in the movement not from New York or Virginia." Mattes served on the National Right to Life Board along with Louis Kavanaugh Jr. "We are making some great strides in the protecting the lives of the unborn in spite of what you read or hear in the major press." He went on to say laws are being passed in pro-life states that are making it very difficult for Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion organizations. That is why their friends in the press are raising such a storm and trying to discredit anyone who stands up for lives of the unborn." He also praised President Donald Trump for his appointments of federal judges and the appointment of people to key positions in the administration who are helping to dry up funds going to pro-abortion or- ganizations that received these funds during the Obama years as president. "President Donald Trump is the most pro-life President we have ever had. I say that even thought I was such a big fan of President Re- gan. This President has done more to stifle the pro-abortion movement than any president and the press hate him and are doing what they can to destroy him." Mattes is President and CEO of Life Institute. He is also involved in the International Right to Life Fed- eration. Daviess and Martin County along with their friends in Pike County put on the Banquet each year as a fund raiser. "This year was another banner year for the organizations," said Kavanaugh. Pike Central Marching will compete at state finals Pike Central's Marching Band, under the direction of Chris Ashworth, will compete in the state finals on Saturday, October 26 at Lawrence Central High School, in Indianapolis. They perform their show "Bent" at 1:36 p.m. The music for this year's show is written by John Fanin, Director of Bands at Murray State University. "The concept is everything bends. Music bends, props bend, uniforms even have a bend in them. We all sat down and tried to figure out how to make everything fit into that title," said Ashworth.
