The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, October 23, 2019 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued from page 2 learn and carry out the Great Commission to carry God's word to all the world. I am older and it is hard for me to sit that long and not fall asleep which I dozed off a few times and when I would wake I would be ashamed of myself. I'm glad I don't attend college because I would have trou- ble with their seminars and speeches. We did make lots of notes though and learned some things about the small churches we hadn't given a thought to. Well we didn't have church at Velpen this past Sunday but we did get to visit with Glezen Gener- al Baptist and bring them God's word. Their church building is very nice and comfortable. It's the people who make up a church and these folks have love which you can feel as you enter their as- sembly. I brought a mes- sage about being righteous with God's righteousness which happens when you allow your life to be guid- ed by the Holy Spirit. Lots of people think that doing good deeds can get you in- to heaven but I will tell now good deeds are called for, but you must be forgiven or they are just good deeds and they will not get you to heaven. Don't fail seek God while He may be found. Okay so this is the lon- gest Rambling yet so I'll let you rest and then go about being a blessing. Trunk or Treat 295 W. Sermon Title: "Getting Over My Life Right." Jesus offers another com- parison parable. It isn't hard to see which one of the persons involved in their prayers Jesus prefers. In fact, he offers advice as to which one our Lord would have us model ourselves af- ter. Is it as easy as that? Sim- ply picking out good models and copying their behavior would seem a good way to live. On the other hand, our own sense of pride makes us think that we are do- ing so well when maybe we aren't as close to God as we think we are. The Pharisee thought he had it right… but he was wrong. The tax collector was sure he was wrong, but he had it right. Interesting thought? Let's talk about it this coming Sunday. Michael (Mike) Punke, Pastor PETERSBURG FREE METHODIST CHURCH 202 E. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed?
