Barton Elementary hosts Kindness Assembly Barton Township Ele- mentary School brought motivational speaker Doug Reavis for a school kind- ness assembly last Thurs- day. Reavis is a nationally known motivational speaker who uses his brother Chris and his inability to speak to demonstrate the profound positive impact it has had on the lives of countless in- dividuals. His focus was a silent strength pledge to share with others. His brother's brain damage at birth left him speechless for his 41 years but his positive atti- tude and actions spoke loud- er than words. Doug's mes- sage was that one day of si- lence and kind actions can "make a positive impact on another person's life forev- er." Both educators and stu- dents were asked to make positive actions their voice in a one day pledge. His message include an illustra- tion of the cause and effect that words and actions have on others. To motivate and encourage students to reach out for those who are in need of help. His focus was also to motivate and encour- age students to practice "Si- lent-Strength" in their daily lives. The presentation was to inspire those in atten- dance to continue spread- ing kindness.
