C-2 Church Wednesday, September 4, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued from page 1 Baptist Continued on page 3 Continued in next column Continued in next column "The dogs we love exude gratitude with every wind- shield-wiper wag of their tails, and clear away the mists of our discontent"— Mari Gayatri Stein. This week PAWS is fea- turing an adorable young gal named Molly, who came to PAWS with nine hungry pups she was feed- ing. She was very week and underfed and the pups had depleted a lot of her ener- gy. Thankfully with good nutrition, and her pups able to eat puppy chow, the shelter could focus on get- ting Molly healthy. All the pups were placed in homes and now Molly is ready to find her forever family. She is a beautiful terri- er mix with short, soft fur which is white and brin- dle. Molly has a warm and loving personality and is housebroke. She is approx- imately two years old and can be adopted by calling 812-354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the MOLLY SATURDAY, SEPT. 7 10 A.M. - 1 P.M. Corner of East and Porter Street, Winslow VBS H o u s e o f M e r c y LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED. Cras, Music and Games. Bring a Friend! GOD IS WILD ABOUT YOU! Let's all come together and learn about His plan! ing under the ruling power of His Holy Spirit that they could rise above the world. Only in that way could they be salt and light to a decay- ing and darkened world. Our influence on society depends on our likeness to Jesus Christ. We cannot el- evate others higher than we ourselves have gone. The first century Christians out- thought, out-lived and out loved their neighbors, and by their example of purity and compassion attracted countless thousands to the Christian faith. Jesus said, "Do you think the Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suf- fered this way? I tell you no. But unless you repent, you too will all perish" (Luke 13:2-3). John the Baptist preached repentance. When believ- ing Jews on the Day of Pen- tecost, who were cut to the heart by the sermon, and asked, "What shall we do? " Peter told them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will re- ceive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38). Because He lives. John Manges, Minister WINSLOW CHRISTIAN CHURCH Corner of Lafayette and Walnut Pastor 812-753-3539 Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; We extend a warm wel- come to everyone. Dr. Robert Asa, Minister run with someone." Have you ever started something and never fin- ished it? Maybe it's the jig- saw puzzle that sat on the ta- ble for what seemed like for- ever. Or maybe it's that wood project that you started in the garage but never got around to working on again. Maybe you look at that proj- ect or that puzzle and think about how good it will look once it's done, but you're still waiting for motivation and that push. Life gets messy, it gets hard, and when curve- balls come our way it is easy to give up. But don't give up. "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easy entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fix- ing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith." If you're struggling to run the race, if every ounce of you wants to give up, I hope and pray our family can be a home for you to gain strength and perseverance. Everyone welcome. In John 6:28 the people ask for a To do list in order to habitually or continually do God's work, keeping the Law. In verse 29, Jesus rede- fines the Law with Belief in Him, the One sent. Our belief in Christ changes our attitude so that "work" is renamed "acts of love." Remember not to fo- cus on the to do list as much as on the One Who changes everything by changing us from the inside out. Those changes are the fruit of the Spirit, and He stands as evi- dence for our admittance to Heaven so that we need not experience true death - sep- aration from God, and eter- nal punishment.
