ALLEN STEVE POT TER Allen Steve Potter, 77, of Oakland City, entered rest on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City. He was born on June 9, 1942, in Maryville, to John Raymond and Luetta (Allen) Potter. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 39 years. He was a member of Lo- cal # 808 and of N.R.A. and Southern Indiana Gun Col- lectors. He is survived by his of 59 years, Jeannine (Barr) Potter; son, Stephen Pot- ter, of Winslow; daughters, Beth Ann Lee, of Peters- burg, Susan Hornby, of Oak- land City, and Amy Smith, of Bloomington; sisters, Syl- via Stone, of Oakland City, and Vera Hurst, of Prince- ton; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Brad Keenan and Colton Potter officiating. Burial followed in Blackfoot Cem- etery. BRET T HILSMEYER Brett Hilsmeyer, 53, of Evansville, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. He was born in Hunting- burg to Diane (Hilsmeyer) Leon. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1983. He at- tended Ball State Universi- ty before transferring and graduating from Indiana University in 1987. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a for- mer member of Zoar United Methodist Church in Hol- land. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Hol- land American Legion Post 343 and Boonville American Legion Post 200. He was a 16 -year veteran of the Evans- ville Police Department. He was employed as a security officer at Deaconess Gate- way and The Women's Hos- pital. He loved spending time outdoors and was an avid hunter. He is survived by his mother, Diane Leon; loving wife, Tracie (Bell) Hilsmey- er; son, Chase (Malin Pir- nay) Hilsmeyer; stepdaugh- ter, Kacie (Sam) Jones; stepsons, Justin ( Jessi- ca) Hagenseiker and Jacob ( Jessica) Fink; siblings, Bri- an (Kaci) Leon and Kristi- na (Scott) Reed; best friend, Tom Benner and his daugh- ter, Delaney Benner; and nieces, Veronica and Sloane. She was born May 20, 1923, in Pike County, to Howard A. Walts and Opal (Sumner) Walts Western. She was a 1941 graduate of Hazelton High School and a graduate of Lockyear's Business College. She was a member of St. Johns East United Church of Christ. She worked as a secretary at Servel, as a court reporter in Pike County Circuit Court for Judge Lester Nixon and as a secretary for the Evans- ville Vanderburgh School Corporation at Dexter Ele- mentary School for 42 years. She enjoyed cooking, gar- dening, growing beautiful flowers, playing Bunco and Bridge, sewing and quilting. She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Dennis) LaMar, of Indianapolis, and Kathryn (Andy) Stew- art, of Evansville; daugh- ter-in-law, Joan Adler Kays, of Haubstadt; six grandchil- dren; and two great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her parents; be- loved husband of 24 years, Virgil Kays, who passed away in 1972; son, Dr. How- ard W. Kays (1951-1996); and daughter, Barbara Kays McCarty (1954-2016). CHARLES ROBERT ROBLING Charles Robert Robling, 68, of Hazleton, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at his home. He was born July 14, 1951, to parents Byron Robling and Wilma (Bateman) Robling. He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was self-employed as a car- penter for many years. He enjoyed working and keep- ing busy. He enjoyed camp- ing with his family and play- ing with his dog, Bandit. He is survived by his wife, Nila Robling; two step- daughters, Stephanie (Don- nie) Bishop and Tracy Nel- son; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; several nieces and nephews; broth- er, Dave (Brenda); and sis- ter-in-law, Myra. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry and Jeff; and one in- fant brother, Byron. He is survived by his children, Shiela Hannah, of Francisco, Von Hannah of Ft. Branch, Rita (Mike) Crumbacher, of Poseyville, Peggy (Hannah) Hunt, of Princeton and Gary Han- nah, of Francisco; 15 grand- children; 20 great-grand- children; and several niec- es and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 12 brothers and sisters; daughter, The- resa Hannah; and son, Mark Hannah. MILLER Ronald G. Miller, 76, of Shoals, passed away at his residence on August 25, 2019. He was born July 5, 1943, in Velpen, to Ovle Gene and Alice ( Young) Miller. He married Rita Hulsey on May 10, 1975. He served as a Naval Avia- tor during the Vietnam War, was a retired heavy equip- ment operator and attended The River Church. He is survived by his wife; his mother, Alice Miller, of Newburgh; three sons, T.J. Miller, of Shoals, Kyle (Ka- ti) Miller, of Glenrock, Wyo., and Tyler (Kelsey), of Shoals; three daughters, Pamela Miller, of Wewahi- tchka, Fla., Robin List, of Indianapolis, and Jessica (Denny) Stanton, of Sell- ersburg; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Marc Miller, of Newburgh; one sister, Tracy Vosler, of Columbus, Ohio; and a special son, B.J. (Ruth) Whaley, of Shoals. He is preceded in death by his father; a son, Heath Kalb; a daughter, Sandy Kalb; two grandsons, Logan Heath Whaley and Kenneth Michael Sprecher. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2019, at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals, with Pas- tor Ed Farhar officiating.
