Gary Watson, Pastor Kathy Henderson, Re- porter "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, [a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, (3) because you know that the testing of your faith produces perse- verance. (4) Let persever- ance finish its work so that you may be mature and com- plete, not lacking anything. (5) If any of you lacks wis- dom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (6) But when you ask, you must be- lieve and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Sup- per at 10 :30 a.m. John 13 Yesterday during our ser- mon time, we reflected on the moment in Jesus' minis- try where the savior of the world takes on the form of a servant, in the lowest form, and washed the dirty feet of his disciples. It is such a spe- cial moment in the ministry of Jesus and the narrative of John's Gospel. The reason, there is a veil that covers the surface of the narrative as we see Jesus travel the ancient world of Israel and the Greco-Roman empire, VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. State Rd. 56 Morning worship and the Lord's supper at 9:30 a.m.; Bible school at 10 :30 a.m.; evening worship at 6:30 p.m. Study: Ephesians Chapter 4. You are welcome to attend these services. Remember next Sunday is Pentecost. Pentecost Sunday Pentecost followed fifty days after the Passover Sab- bath. Jesus' resurrection took place after the Pass- over Sabbath. Seven Sab- we see what Jesus is doing (teaching, miracle, signs, etc.), but John also seems to keep the true meaning from us building up to the end. At John 13 though, Jesus is sharing the last meal with his closest followers, the twelve, and he chooses to give them another sign, and he does so by washing their feet. But the most significant part in the scene is the chal- lenge that comes after the act. Jesus challenges his fol- lowers to do the same. He tells his disciples to do just as he had done, to wash feet. However, if we just believe Jesus is telling us to literal- ly wash feet, we narrow the view of this moment. Jesus is not just after us to wash feet but instead, he is beckoning us to love our neighbor and be a servant of all no matter who they are and no matter how dirty the work. And Je- sus leaves his disciples with these words in verse 17; "Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." Let us follow Jesus' example by serving and loving our neighbors. Everyone welcome. DJ Bryant, Pastor baths plus one equals fifty days. As you read the second chapter of Acts you find the day of Pentecost came. Here you find the first gospel ser- mon about Jesus. His life, death, burial, resurrection, and exaltation, and it was all according to God's plan. The people were cut to the heart and cried out, "Broth- ers, what shall we do? " They evidently already believed. They were told, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Ho- ly Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call" (Acts 2:37-39). "Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day" (Acts 2:40). Because He lives. Seek God "Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face al- ways." (1 Chronicles 16:11, NIV ). This verse is one of those that as Christians we need to remember and keep in our hearts and minds. Seeking God and his will for our lives is one of those things that we should do on more than a dai- ly basis, whether we have a need or not. We should seek him not only for our lives but also for the lives of our fam- ily members and the lives of those around us. We should seek him and his guidance on how to reach them, and how to show them that God is re- al and in our lives. We are all living examples of God's love and mercy. Seek him and help others to do the same. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all services. Come and wor- ship Jesus with us. See our Facebook page Glezen Revival Center. Samuel Kinnaman, Pastor Doris Catt, Reporter Independent In Psalms 61:8, David says, "So I will sing praises to Your name forever, Paying my vows day by day." When we ask Jesus to be our Lord, we are making a vow, a daily commitment to be obedient to Him. Our lives are living songs, each different, yet in harmony, giving praise only when in relationship with Him. Sin tries to put a wedge in that relationship, making us play off-key. Jesus is able to re-tune us when we repent and turn back to Him. Ev- ery good musician knows to tune their instrument be- fore they play it. Tune in to Jesus so that you are able to make the best praise music for Him. Denny Wiscaver, Pastor Kimberly Flynn, Reporter
