Poplar Street, Petersburg NEWS BRIEFS City of Petersburg sets curbside pick-up of sticks and limbs The City of Petersburg will have curbside pick-up for sticks and limbs on Monday, June 10, weather per- mitting. The sticks and limbs to be picked up are ones that have fallen in yards as a result of spring winds and storms. Call the city office at 812-354-8511 to request this service. Sticks and limbs must be on curbside by Monday morning. Volunteers needed for Tax-Aide program There is an interest in establishing an A ARP Foun- dation's Tax-Aide program in Pike County. Volunteers are needed to get it started. Representatives will be at the Pike County Public Library, 1008 E. Maple Street, Petersburg, Monday, June 10 from 9 -11:30 a.m. Tri Kappa seeks Little Miss Sweet Corn contestants Tri Kappa of Oakland City is seeking contestants for the Little Miss Sweet Corn Pageant. Girls ages 5 -7 at the time of the contest are eligible. Contest will be Friday, July 26. Contestants are required to perform a talent and will be asked a brief question during an interview. We're opening in Evansville Friday, June 28 at 8 a.m. 1201 Cross Pointe Place DAVID L. MILEY David L. Miley, 74, of Pe- tersburg, passed away at home on June 4, 2019, sur- rounded by his family. He was born December 4, 1944, to Howard Miley, Jr. and Mary L. Miley. He graduated from Peters- burg High School in 1962. He was a lifelong farmer and a county council mem- ber for three terms. He lived in Pike County his whole life and his passion was always farming and conservation of the land. Over the years, he had received numerous awards for his conservation practices. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Bryan (Su- sie); daughter, Sheila ( Ja- son) Bjorkquist; stepson, Mark Loyd; stepdaughter, Teri (David) Waltz; seven grandchildren; and sister, Betty (Paul) Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Mi- ley, Jr. and Mary L. Miley. Funeral services are pending at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg. See additional obituaries on page C-7.
