There's no need for high-priced gadgets for those who know the plea- sure of joyful, simple liv- ing. This week, PAWS is featuring a rambunc- tious young kitten named Kipton, who spends his day chasing his siblings around the cat room, some- times stopping to throw a toy mouse up in the air, or to bat a feather that is hanging from the cat tree at PAWS. Kipton has quite a per- sonality and is at that per- fect age to learn all that his new family chooses to teach him. He is a fur- ry little tabby with medi- um length yellow fur, with white accents and he has baby blue eyes that add to his endearing appearance. To adopt Kipton or one of his siblings, call 812- 354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the KIPTON Baptist Continued on page 3 see him and to know that he is growing stronger. Missions A missions thought by an unknown brother, "You cannot spell Gospel with- out 'Go;' neither can you say Brothers without say- ing 'others.'" Because He lives. John Manges, Minister Christian Christian school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Sup- per at 10 :30 a.m. John 13 Yesterday during our ser- mon time, we reflected on the moment in Jesus' minis- try where the savior of the world takes on the form of a servant, in the lowest form, and washed the dirty feet of his disciples. It is such a spe- cial moment in the ministry of Jesus and the narrative of John's Gospel. The reason, there is a veil that covers the surface of the narrative as we see Jesus travel the ancient world of Israel and the Greco-Roman empire, we see what Jesus is doing (teaching, miracle, signs, etc.), but John also seems to keep the true meaning from us building up to the end. At John 13 though, Je- sus is sharing the last meal with his closest followers, the twelve, and he chooses to give them another sign, and he does so by washing their feet. But the most sig- nificant part in the scene is the challenge that comes af- ter the act. Jesus challenges his followers to do the same. He tells his disciples to do just as he had done, to wash feet. However, if we just be- lieve Jesus is telling us to lit- erally wash feet, we narrow the view of this moment. Jesus is not just after us to wash feet but instead, he is beckoning us to love our neighbor and be a servant of all no matter who they are and no matter how dirty the work. And Jesus leaves his disciples with these words in verse 17; "Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." Let us follow Jesus' exam- ple by serving and loving our neighbors. Everyone welcome. DJ Bryant, Pastor Church of Christ BRENTON CHAPEL CHURCH OF CHRIST 1194 E. CR 400 N. What a promise—to be shown salvation if we hon- or God with our sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving, giving God first place. It may seem hard to do in difficult circumstances, but when we do, God lifts our spirit by changing our atti- tude and allowing us to see the situation in a different light, making it more bear- able. Denny Wiscaver, Pastor Kimberly Flynn, Reporter reminder of what God wants us to be or, to be more spe- cific, how he wants us to be. It is a common belief that if you are a Christian that you should be timid, nervous or even spineless at times, let- ting others take over you by "turning the other cheek." This phrase from the Bible is for the most part misinter- preted. The piece of scrip- ture is really talking about forgiving others even in the hardest of times and situa- tions. I say this to tell you that this scripture tells us how God gives us the power to overcome any obstacle even if that obstacle is ten times our size. In turn, he is giv- ing us the ability to love and show compassion to even the hardest of people. He al- so provides us with self-dis- cipline or restraint and the wisdom to know what He would have us do in that spe- cific situation. As Christians and chil- dren of God, we are powerful through him. So show cour- age because God has given you all the tools you need to face your next mountain. God bless you and keep you.
