B-2 Sports Wednesday, May 29, 2019 The Press-Dispatch SPORTS BRIEFS Youth Soccer camp is June 7 Pike Central High School boys' and girls' coaches and players will be putting on a soc - cer camp for K through eighth grade on June 7. Camp will consist of age specific drills, contests and games. Sign-ups the day of the camp are ac- cepted, but without a T- shirt. Site is the Old Peters- burg High School soc- cer fields. Kindergarten through fourth grade will be 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m., and fifth through eighth is from noon until 2:30 p.m. Cleats, tennis shoes, shin guards, water bottle and a soccer ball should be brought for each partici- pant. Cost is $25 or $40 for siblings, payable by check to PC Boys' Soccer, Jacob Western, 4929 North Park Lane Drive, Petersburg, IN 47567. Entry form should in- clude: name, grade in Fall 2019, cell number, shirt size and date mailed. Lions Hokum Karem is June 8 The porch of the His- toric Peter Brenton log cabin at Hornady Park is the site of the Hokum Karem (Run or Walk) Pe- tersburg Lions Club fund- raiser. The race is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, June 8 and features two person teams that complete a to- tal of six miles, alternat- ing one mile at a time. Those interested in en- tering a team can submit an entry form by June 2, with $10 per person pay- able to Petersburg Lions Club. Entry cost is $12 per person the day of the race. There will be bottled wa- ter and fruit for all par- ticipants and awards to the first 50 entries. Win- ning teams will receive an award in each of the twelve race categories. Locally, the Lions Club provides eye screening for all Pike County children through the elementary schools, plus exams and eye care for children and adults who cannot afford it. Participants and fans are encouraged to bring used eyeglasses to do- nate. Lions club collects and recycles eye glass- es for worldwide distri- bution. Bryn Hillyard stepped in and gave up two hits, and one run earned run, walking zero. Jasper's Mia Werner struck out four, allowed three hits including Padgett's two- run homer and walked zero. Jasper finished with seven hits, four walks and three RBIs with Grace Colvin and Kennedy Matheis doing the most damage with two hit each and the three RBIs. Both teams had their share of errors with Pike Central committing four and Jasper three. Colvin, Werner, Emily Helm and Matheis each had doubles, and Lexie Jerger, Colvin and Kendyl Ruhe with stolen bas- es.
