The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, May 29, 2019 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued from page 2 almost cried a few times. Dave was saying he is tired and isn't planning on doing this anymore and I asked him if they gave him some- one sane and normal to work with next year would he changed his mind and he said he doubted it. Not sure but I believe we had at least 117 cars registered to be judged. I have judged before and it is a task with all the beautiful machinery displayed. Sunday school was about the gift of tongues and dif- ferent languages. The day of Pentecost was a great day as the Holy Spirit came and made a great confusion and people ended up hearing the great plan of salvation in their own language. God will make a way for people to hear His word. There is an unknown tongue which lots of people put much im- portance on, but it is actu- ally a personal thing be- tween the speaker and God. I would never question any- one about their thoughts concerning the unknown tongue, but for me I would rather preach the word clearly with my Lord's help and I hope I never depend on my own efforts. Please don't let people take away your faith in God and how you worship because it real- ly is between you and God. Scripture lesson covered compassion and being ten- derhearted with others. We need to be forgiving because we need to be for- given. God forbid but, we stand in need much of the time in need of forgiveness. We who judge others will be examined to see if we live up to our own judging and our judging will come again when we meet God. We also found that just be- cause someone doesn't do, what we think they should, doesn't mean they are wrong. There many ways of doing things. Our lesson ended with "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Well enough for now let's go out and live a life pleas- ing to God Almighty. Sermon Series: "The Bib- lical Principles of Giving." Scripture reading: Mat- thew 25:14-18. Sermon title: "Multiplica- tion of the Talents." Theme Statement: An or- dained elder of the United Methodist Church is to en- courage giving as a spiritu- al discipline by teaching the Biblical Principles of giving. One of the most well-known parables that Jesus told is the parable of the talents. Since most of us aren't su- per talented or exceptional- ly gifted, we can fully relate to the servant with just one talent. There are three ways God will multiply our talents. 1. God give us trust. 2. God gives us time. 3. God gives us tests. Leon Pomeroy, Pastor PETERSBURG FREE METHODIST CHURCH 202 E. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that pass- es all understanding—He is in control. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. Come visit us, our doors are always open to you. Repeated headlines about violence can make us "feel like locking our doors and never entering society again," writes pastor and author Max Lucado. A fter another mass shooting, he penned an on- line opinion piece that urged people to do the exact oppo- site by opening doors, their hearts and their circles. "It's no accident that hospi- tality and hospital come from the same Latin word," writes Lucado, "for they both lead to the same result: healing. When you open your door to someone, you are sending this message: 'You matter.'" Because daily life is filled with rejections, extending an invitation - even to a sim- ple meal - can be life-altering, Lucado contends. What you think is a messy house might be a sanctuary to someone else, "and to those who eat alone every night, pork and beans on a paper plate tastes like filet mignon." Our kitch- en tables are "God's secret weapons in the war on fear, Lucado says. "We never know what one meal will do." Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Tuesday morning women's Bible study at the fellowship hall 10 a.m. No Time I knelt to pray but not for long; I had too much to do. I had to hurry and get to work for bills would soon be due. So I knelt and said a hur- ried prayer, and jumped up off my knees. My Christian duty was now done. My soul could rest at ease. All day long, I had no time to spread a word of cheer, no time to speak of Christ to friends. They'd laugh at me, I'd fear. No time, no time, too much to do; That was my constant cry. No time to give to souls in need, but at last, the time to die. I went before the Lord. I came, I stood with downcast eyes. For in his hands, God held a book; It was the Book of Life. God looked into his book and said, "Your name I cannot find. I once was go- ing to write it down, but nev- er found the time." We invite all of you to come and worship with us.
