We barely escaped last year. What is happening? Grandparents and parents over bought lots many years ago, $7.50 for two. Now family members are using those lots as they should, but no lots are being sold and donations are down, due to the young being unaware of all cemeteries need for upkeep. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with her care. NORBERT "NIP" A. WEHR Norbert "Nip" A. Wehr, 85, of Ireland, Ind., passed away at 4:10 p.m. on Thurs- day, May 16, 2019, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana. He was born in Ireland on July 23, 1933, to Edward and Helen (Renner) Wehr. He married Gloria Hochgesang on February 23, 1954, in Ho- ly Family Catholic Church in Jasper. He worked for the State Highway, U.S. Railway, and then retired from Wehr's Welding, which he owned for 37 years. He was also a farmer. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland and the Internation- al Bluegrass Association. He enjoyed playing the fiddle and played at many dances, weddings and nurs- ing homes. He won many contests and was the Indi- ana State Fiddling Champi- on. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Wehr, of Ireland; one daughter, Karen (Bryan) Trimborn, of Evansville; four sons, Marvin (Aurdrey) Wehr, Ernest (Brenda) Wehr, Stanley ( Wilma) Wehr and John Wehr, all of Ireland; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen (Charles) Vogler, of Ireland, and Vio- la Howard, of Bloomington; and one brother, Herman Wehr, of Evansville. Preceding him in death are one son, Richard Wehr; one daughter-in-law, There- sa Wehr; and one sister, He- lene Matthews. A Mass of Christian Buri- al was at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ire- land. Burial followed in the church cemetery. A visitation was from noon-6 p.m. on Sunday, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or to a fa- vorite charity. She was born on March 29, 1928, in Boonville, to Lewis and Emma McDaniel. She worked as a secre- tary at the Pike Co. Land- fill and was a member of the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons, Terry, Kenny and Danny Strobel; daughters, Shirley Schum and Rose Mitchell; stepsons, Terry Lee, Donnie and Richard Weathers; stepdaughter, Debbie Russell; grandchil- dren, Amy Vanmeter, Am- ber Strobel, Travis McCand- less and Dusty McCandless; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charlie Gunn. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Weath- ers; first husband, Sylvester Strobel; her parents; and grandchildren, Brad and Peggy Strobel. Services will be at 10 :30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg. Buri- al will follow the service at Vincent Cemetery. GORDON "DALE" PERRY Gordon "Dale" Perry was sung into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Sun- day, May 19, 2019. His grand- daughters sang "Amazing Grace" as they and other family stood around his bed as he retired from his long fight with cancer. He is "free indeed! " He was born on July 9, 1936, to Lloyd William Per- ry and Esther Oleava (Glad- ish) Perry. He married Ruth "Lou- ise" White on April 23, 1961; they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in 2019. He was a U. S. Army vet- eran, and he attended voca- tional school for engines in Tennessee. He farmed for decades with his father in and around the White Riv- er bottoms and with his two older sons before he retired. He was a faithful attendee of River of Life Fellowship Church, and loved Jesus and his family very much. He had a very mechani- cal mind, and he was never happier than when he was tinkering with some kind of machine. He loved to go to fairs and antique shows to see the machinery and would spend hours inspect- ing and figuring out how the machines worked. He had the opportunity on the farm to put this interest in- to practice many times as he maintained and repaired the farm machinery and thought of new ways to mod- ify machines for other uses. He and his dad designed and built some unique pieces for their own use as well; chief among them were their si- lage wagons. He is survived by his wife, Louise; three sons, Kev- in, of Hazleton, Paul (Lou), of Monroe City, Kyle (Ly- nette), of Avon; a daughter, Lori (Eric) Gilham, of Ot- well; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded into heaven by his parents; and his grandson, Jonathan Per- ry. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at River of Life Fel- lowship Church. Burial will follow in Walnut Hills Cem- etery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Harris Funer- al Home is entrusted with his care. VIVIAN "COOKY" TAYLOR Vivian "Cooky" Taylor, 76, passed away May 17, 2019, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born July 11, 1942, in Petersburg. She retired as a bookkeep- er for the City of Petersburg Water Department. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Petersburg High School Class of 1960, and an active member of the Alum- ni Association.
