By Andy Heuring Press-Dispatch Sports sports@pressdispatch.net Pike Central's Noah On- yett tied his school record as the Chargers beat Barr Reeve early last week and finished fifth in an 18 -team meet at Country Oaks on Saturday. The Chargers are continu- ing to post strong scores. They beat Barr Reeve 158 to 189, as Onyett led the way, tying his school record of 34 on Prides Creek. He was backed up by seniors Hayden Kabrick and Austin Holder, who both shot 40, while Cutter Reed and Jay- lon Mills both had 44s for the team's 158. On Saturday, the Chargers placed fifth in the Washing- ton Invitational that featured some of the better teams in Indiana. It was won by Zi- onsville with a team score of 306. They had three players shoot 75 or better, including the medalist, who shot 71. The other teams to beat Pike Central were Evansville North and Evansville Memo- rial at 323, who are both pe- rennial state contenders, and Avon with a team 338. Pike Central had a 340, led by Onyett's 80. Charger coach Jarrod Gideon said that round could have been much better, except Onyett three-putted six of the 18 greens. Kabrick was right behind Onyett with an 82. Holder posted an 87. Reed and Mills both shot 91. Pike Central tied for fifth with host Washington. The other teams were: Evans- ville Central 351, North- view 354, South Knox 368, North Posey 381, Southridge and Vincennes Lincoln 388, Linton 390, Mt. Vernon 398, Perry Central 402, Prince- ton 436 and West Washing- ton 451. Golf team wins; Onyett ties school record again you can learn a lot from the Newspaper!
