The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, May 8, 2019 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued in next column Continued from page 2 again. As we were working at the auction this past Thurs- day night, I started wonder- ing why are we so busy and I think I realized, we are do- ing things we really want to do now when we didn't have the time to do them before we retired. So yes you are busier but there is more enjoyment in doing what you are doing. As far as the auction goes we didn't buy near as much as usual so we had less to deal with when we got home. I had the great honor of presiding over the funer- al for the mother of one of our neighbors. Funer- als are hard because you really never know exact- ly what to say and how to say it. You pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you through your efforts. Fu- nerals are designed to help the grieving family find support from other fami- ly and friends to help cope with their loss. I only hope and pray that as I preside over other funerals that I can help in some little way. Sunday school was about three men seldom men- tioned. They were used as examples in our les- son. Gaius was a teach- er/preacher and he often showed hospitality to vis- iting teachers when Di- otrephes was the type of person who always looked out for himself. He was afraid someone would take his position and his status as a leader away from him. Demetrius who had made idols from silver and was sin hardened passed a let- ter from John to Gaius. Sounds like God had con- victed another soul. The Scripture lesson was about being happy and just how to be happy. The first step toward true happiness is to commit your life to liv- ing for Jesus. We must have patience enough to wait on God to work things out. We are asked to rest in the trust God has in us and the trust we have in Him. Our Spirit will show in our faces as we are happy or up- set and troubled. Be happy because a good Spirit is like medicine to your soul and can even help you physi- cally. Don't forget to make the most of the situation you are in and learn to be con- tent. Being content doesn't mean you are satisfied, be- cause being satisfied can cause you to quit trying for better and God wants all of us to have better. But on- ly when we can handle the goodness He has for us. Last but not least the Bible tells us to seek Je- sus and to accept His rest because His yoke is easy. Let's all get out there and do our best to show His love for us all. Independent Pentecostal GLEZEN REVIVAL CENTER 245 S. Glezen Center St. 812-354-6738 or 812-582-9667 Sunday morning worship and children's church 10 :15 a.m.; see our Facebook for Youth Group Hearts on Fire meeting times. Also, remem- ber to pray for the USA, peace and for one another. Showing God's Love and Grace "Above all, love each oth- er deeply, because love cov- ers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one an- other without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have re- ceived to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." (1 Peter 4:8 -10, NIV ). This is one of those vers- es that as Christians we need to keep with us in our hearts everyday. Lov- ing others, even in bad sit- uations, offering hospitali- ty without grumbling and using our gifts to serve oth- ers are some of the hard- est things to do the ma- jority of the time. Howev- er, as children of God and stewards of his grace, we should strive every day to show that kind of mercy, compassion and grace in- stead of hatred or wrath. Doing this in tough situa- tions can show others that God is real and lives inside you. This is one of the ma- ny ways to reach out to oth- ers and show that we can all make a difference with GOSPEL CENTER CHURCH Independent Baptist Church 420 E. There was a manifestation of heal- ing before our eyes. An an- kle healed, a knot went down and pain removed and sight beginning to return to an eye. Bondages were broken and lives changed to the glo- ry of God. Truly freedom en- tered into lives and celebra- tion of salvation was truly present. Truly the presence of the Lord was in the house. We are so humbled by the move of God. Pray for those in hospitals, nursing homes, your neigh- bors, any that are sick and in bondage. I pray that many of God's children realize it's time for revival in our lives and in our churches. The Resurrection wasn't a "one-off;" it was a spark that lit a flame that contin- ues burning even today, es- pecially where people min- ister in the Risen One's name. One such outreach, Camp Noah, serves chil- dren traumatized by disas- ter. Nationwide, volunteers offer week-long experienc- es of kindness, love, listen- ing and safety to kids who've recently survived a tornado, flood, hurricane, wildfire or shooting. Kids often open up for the first time to share their "storm stories" and be- gin a journey of healing. Leaders at Camp Noah at- test to God's power to bring joy out of sorrow, trust out of fear and life out of death. A boy who initially was aloof, dances with another camp- er at the closing worship; kids who arrived with un- certain expressions, leave with smiles and regained confidence. Mental health counselors are part of camp teams, and referrals are made to continue care af- terward. Resurrection often hap- pens in steps, not over- night. But wherever "ordi- nary" daily ministry takes place in Christ's name, ex- traordinary echoes of the first Easter are evident. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday.
