As Christians and God-fearing people, we take a stand and proclaim that abortion is the killing of an innocent person (medical emergencies not withstanding). We believe that life is precious, and every baby is a gi from God. As Psalm 139:13-14, 16 says, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made... Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Our hearts are broken for these babies' lives who are ended so early, and for the parents who live with the scars abortion has le on them. We know that God is merciful and forgives all sins when confessed. ARBUTUS MA XINE REED Arbutus Maxine Reed, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday May 6, 2019, after a lengthy illness. Born in Winslow on Jan- uary 30, 1931, she was well- known for her many years of work at the Jay C store, from where she retired in the late '80s. She was a long-time, Al- giers community, Pike County resident that was loved by numerous friends and family. She was also a long-time member of the Algiers United Methodist Church. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She is survived by a broth- er, Jerry Johnson, of Peters- burg; her son and daughter- in-law, Tony and Pam Cun- diff, of Houston Texas; four grandsons, Jeremy Cundiff, from Palm Coast, Fla., and Shad, Nathan and Chance Cundiff, all from Houston, Texas; fifteen great-grand- children; and one great- great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Joey Dee Cundiff; a brother, George Johnson; a sister, Lena Swain; and her husband, Georgie James Reed. Services will be at noon on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial will fol- low at Walnut Hills Ceme- tery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funer- al home. Hamilton has held positions of nurse clinician, nurse educator, vascular ac- cess specialty nurse, nurs- ing supervisor, director of critical care services, and in- terim vice president of nurs- ing at hospitals in Washing- ton and Vincennes.
