C-2 Church Wednesday, May 8, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued from page 1 CHURCH NOTE DEADLINE 10 A.M. EVERY TUESDAY "We all have our 'good old days' tucked away in- side our hearts, and we re- turn to them in daydreams like cats to favorite arm- chairs"—Brian Carter. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a companionable old cat named Gramps, who is a chunky fellow that has certainly not missed too many meals in his lifetime. He is a very laid back cat and spends a good deal of his day sleeping. He's a gorgeous mix of Siamese and Burmese, and has ex- quisite aqua-colored eyes. You must see this fellow to appreciate his handsome appearance and loyal per- sonality. To adopt Gramps, call 812-354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the GRAMPS Baptist Continued on page 3 Independent Catholic GLEZEN G.B. CHURCH Corner of Center and Sycamore Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; This Sunday, Pastor Dale Frederick will be bringing the morning message. This Wednesday will be our monthly business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Remember those on our prayer list, the shut-ins and our lost loved ones. Being in Christ Jesus re- quires us to spend time in prayer. That is when we can share our hearts and listen to the Spirit best. We all need to take time to confess our sins and accept God's forgiveness, so we will not be tempted to live in condemnation. We all know that the flesh is weak, but the Spirit is not. With the Spirit's help, we can rejoice in our salvation and live a life free from the law of sin and death. "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). Karri Brock, Reporter ARTHUR G.B. CHURCH 5670 S. This Sunday, as we cele- brate Mother's Day, take the time to honor your mother or a special lady in your life. For those of us whose moth- ers have passed on, it's a bit- tersweet day as the memo- ries come flooding back. We thank the Lord for His peace and the wonderful memories we have. No need to carry the bur- den of ownership of your life today. You've been bought with a price, so you don't be- long to you anymore. God's grace has welcomed you to rest and peace, because that grace has placed your life un- der new and capable manage- ment. The One who is Cre- ator, Savior and King has tak- en ownership. What could be better than that? We are remembering in prayer those who are bur- dened with health problems, financial hardships and those with heavy hearts. We have a God who hears and answers our prayers. Call on Him and lean on Him today. Come and worship with us. Ralph Newkirk, Pastor Marla Morrison, Reporter AYRSHIRE VALLEY G.B. CHURCH 1947 E. Co. It was a very spirit filled ser- vice. This Sunday is Mother's Day. Remember to thank God for your mother and al- so thank Him if you are a mother. "He will give His angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways" (Psalm 91:11). A secret agent is one who seeks to protect his coun- try, his king, or his presi- dent against evil forces that are opposite to the one he serves. The American Se- cret Service is charged with protecting the president of the United States. They do an excellent job, but even they will tell you that some- one who is fiercely deter- mined to assassinate the president could be success- ful. God has His own secret agents-the angels. Unseen and unrecognized by the world, they never fail in their appointed tasks. Much has been written recently about angels, often not based on the Bible, but on popular legends. But angels are re- al and God has commanded them to watch over us. On- ly in eternity will we know how many accidents they prevented, or how often they kept Satan's malicious spir- its at bay. In the meantime, we can take comfort in their presence, and thank God for the love He expresses for us through their service. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free and join us for services. I am sure you will leave be- ing blessed. May God bless each and everyone. I often hear two extremes when listening to others jus- tify their church attendance. One side would boast that they haven't missed a church service in years, proud of their duty, as if church at- tendance is an obligation. Then on the other hand, some would justify their lack of regular attendance, as if ritualistically attend- ing church service, without passion is wrong. However, when I look at the church of the apostles and the early Christians, I wonder if they would shake their head (and really shake us!) as if we had missed the point. This weekend I attend- ed the graduation for my al- ma mater in Tennessee, and the speaker this year drew to our attention a link between two passages. In Philippians 1:5 Paul, exclaimed his deep appreciation to God for their "participation" in the gospel. But this same word for par- ticipation or partnership, is the same word for "fellow- ship" in Acts 2. This means the mission of "church peo- ple" is to attend church ritu- VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. She watch- es over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness." "Her children arise and call her blessed; her hus- band also, and he praises her—charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeing, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate" (Prov- erbs 31:26 -31). Because He lives.
