American Legion Post 82 hosts breakfast Shelby American Legion Post 82 hosted a breakfast for National Vice Commander Jack Milburn Saturday, April 5th. He was in the area for the annual NC "Pony Express" Membership Drive to recruit members for The American Legion, The Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of the American Legion, and the Legion Riders. The Riders are members of the American Legion, the Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion, who own and ride motorcy- cles. Vice Commander Milburn is from Balti- more, Maryland, and has been a member of the American Legion for 55 years. He serves the Southeast Region. He is visiting Legion Posts between Shelby and Raleigh. While In Shelby, the Vice Commander re- quested a tour of veterans fi eld at Keeter Stadium. Hal Hastings, post athletic offi cer and Jim Quinlan gave them a tour prior to breakfast. Vice Commander Milburn hopes to return for the Legion World Series. The Legion riders left from Shelby to go to Kings Mountain, Gastonia, Charlotte, and ultimate- ly Raleigh. Also present for the breakfast were Legion Riders Director Jack Ward, Post 82 Commander Jim Quinlan, National Execu- tive Committeeman Jeff Joyner, and Alternate National Committeeman Patricia Harris.
