CHRISTINE "CHRIS" THOMPSON Mrs. Christine "Chris" Thompson, age 76, of Rutherfordton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Rob Calvert and Carrie Clontz Horn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Audrey Calvert, Edith Mae Hensley, Lorrene Stewart; and two brothers, Dewey Lee Calvert and Clifford Edward Stewart. Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Reverend Billy Thompson; daughter, Anne Thompson (Jerry) of Chesnee, SC; son, Wayne Thompson of Rutherfordton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was born to the late Bernard Mayer and Susan Wachs Mayer. In addition to her parents, she was preced- ed in death by her husband, Charles Minerich; a grand- son; brother, Nick Mayer; and a sister, Lillian Mayer- Simmons. Mrs. Minerich is sur- vived by two daughters, Susan Bartuska (George) of Wellford, SC and Laurie Gagner of Ellenboro; son, Joe Minerich of Aurora, IL; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colman and Bessie Elliott. Mr. Elliott served our coun- try in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by his first wife, Mary Beth Houser Elliott; and his second wife, Boots. He is survived by his son, Marty (George Martin Elliott Jr.) and his wife, Margaret (Maggie) of Greensboro; his daughter, Terri Elliott Dollar and her husband, Clark of Raleigh; and his son, Mike of Shelby; and three grand- children and one great-grand- child. JAMES WATERS Mr. James Waters, age 69, of Shelby, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 3, 2019. He was born to the late Clyde Lee and Dorothy Estelle Caylor Waters. Mr. Waters served our country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by daughter Heather Dawn Waters; sister Marsha Kay Waters Tuttle; and brother-in-law, Mark Tuttle. He is survived by his wife, Jane Tatham Waters; son, Kevin Waters of Kings Mountain; brother, David Mitchell Waters of Murphy; and a grandson.
