Christ lived among men A missionary visiting a poor hut in a refugee district was challenged by a suffering woman: "You tell us that you are interested in us and want to help us, but it's very easy for you to simply come to see us in our povertystricken home." "The question is, are you ready to bring your family from the clean and comfortable home in which they live, in order to live in our district with all its poverty and suffering and sin? Would you do that in order to lift us up?" That is exactly what Christ did. "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us" (John 1:14). "Know Jesus, love Him in the Holy Spirit" God said, "Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of host." Jesus said to His disciples, "The Holy Ghost is with you and shall be in you. But the Comforter which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance." By the Holy Ghost we know Jesus. When we hurt sometimes we want revenge but God's way is love. We must turn to God's Word for guidance, our friends for comfort and to Jesus for inner peace. Only when we get to heaven will we no longer feel grief and pain and find the answer to human suffering. to Jesus. Seek Jesus face to face. Seek Him with all your heart. Our face can shine because the Holy Spirit is alive in us. We can't make it on our own or by good works. God lives in us by the Holy Ghost—the resurrection power of God. The anointing power of the Holy Ghost is God's presence with us. Jesus said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you, Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world." God is yet doing miracles by the Holy Ghost power. The Lord God healeth thee. All things are possible to him that believeth. We need to forgive all people. We need more love, faith and wisdom. A nursery for infants is available, through age seven and children's church for ages 3-12. The difference There's a significant difference between having religion and having a relationship with Christ. The key word in religion is do. It is a present-tense verb. Do. Do. Do. You need to be baptized. You need to join the church. You need to learn the catechism. You need to be confirmed. You need to take communion. You need to . . . And the list goes on. Religion is based on the idea that we must do things in order to win the favor of God and receive salvation. Having a relationship with Christ is not based on the word do; it is based on the word done. We have been accepted by God "through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all" (Hebrews 10:10, NIV). Office hours: 9-noon, Mon.-Fri. Phone: 354-6844.
