Health Screening Available in Jasper—A public health screening on Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 5:45-9 a.m. at Memorial Southside Office, located at 1100 West 12th Avenue in Jasper. The cost of the screening is $35, and is open to those who live or work in the Jasper area. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. The screening lasts approximately 15 minutes, and pre-registration is required. Peripheral Artery Disease Screening—Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center is sponsoring a PAD screening on Thursday, Jan. 24 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at Memorial Cardiovascular Services, 440 Scott Rolen Drive in Jasper. Participants will have their blood pressure reading taken in the arms and ankles, and the results will be compared and interpreted by a physician. Preliminary results will be provided the day of the screening along with educational materials. The cost of the screening is $10. Pre-registration is required by calling Memorial's Cardiovascular Services at 996-1551. A brief medical history will be collected in order to determine eligibility for the screening. Medic First Aid®with AED Refresher—The Medic First Aid®with AED Refresher class will be offered on Friday, January 25 from 8–11 a.m. in the Community Relations Classroom at Memorial Southside Office, 1100 West 12th Avenue in Jasper. Bariatric Public Forum—A public forum for anyone interested in learning more about bariatric surgery is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26 at 9 a.m. in the Medical Arts Building Conference Center, located at 721 West 13th Street in Jasper. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center offers bariatric (weight loss) surgery as an option for clinically severe obesity when less invasive methods of weight loss have failed.
