Swof- ford on his new book, Goin' South: In Search of Equality: a heart-rendering story of the lead-up to the anti-discrimination march of Dr. Martin Luther King and his followers, the confronta- tion with Bull Connor and his vicious minions, and the af- termath that generated King's famous I HAVE A DREAM speech. Rev. Dale Swofford will talk about his journey in writing and the history of the time. Refreshments will be provided. Book Description: Discrimi- nation did not die in Birming- ham, Alabama Goin' South is a heart- rending story of the lead-up to the anti-discrimina- tion march of Dr. Martin Luther King and his followers, the confrontation with Bull Con- nor and his vicious minions, and the aftermath that gen- erated King's fa- mous I HAVE A DREAM speech. Told through the eyes of a young black boy who had never wit- nessed discrimi- nation, the story - while fi ction based on historical fact - lays bare the viciousness of bigot- ry and the evil that man can do to man, while still holding hope that trust and belief in God may change the dark vit- riol and fear that some hold in their heart against others of different color to peace and goodwill toward their fellow man without regard to the col- or of one's skin.
