POWELL Community First Media The 10th annual Carolina Freight Reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at the First Baptist Church Christian Outreach Center in Cherryville, NC. C. Grier Beam Truck Muse- um co-directors Sandy and Joe Dismukes are expecting the turnout for the 10th Annu- al Carolina Freight Reunion to be good, but smaller than what it has been in the past. Of the 200 former employ- ees of the "House That C. Gri- er Built", they said they had 170-plus sign up to attend, a good number coming back to see old friends. "We've had some who have passed away or are ill and just can't get here," noted Mrs. Dismukes. For the Dismukes and all the past employees of CF, it's all about seeing old friends and former coworkers once again, and sharing good times and laughs, along with fond memories of their time at the venerable company that essentially put the small town in the northwest corner of Gaston County on the map. Dismukes said the event was sponsored by the C. Grier Beam Truck Museum and Carolina Federal Credit Union, and the welcome re- ception was held at the C. Gri- er Beam Truck Museum from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with the 11 a.m., to 2 p.m., lunch follow- ing at First Baptist Church's Christian Outreach Center. Last year's honor of the old- est person attending the re- union went to Mr. Ray Bailey, a long-line driver, who was 93 years old. The person driving the lon- gest distance to come to the 2017 reunion was Wayne Caldwell (another long-line driver), of Flagler Beach, FL, who drove 500 miles to at- tend. For more information about the museum, located at 111 North Mountain St., Cher- ryville, call (704) 435-3072), or go online to the museum's website at www.beamtruck- museum.com. For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:30-31
