C-2 Church Wednesday, July 18, 2018 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column Continued from page 1 CHURCH NOTE DEADLINE 10 A.M. EVERY TUESDAY In nine lifetimes, you'll never know as much about your cat as your cat knows about you. This week PAWS is fea- turing an approximately seven months old, ram- bunctious young feline named Spritz, who can usually be found sun- ning herself on the cat porch at PAWS. She is a very attractive, long- haired tabby with thick, glossy black fur and a bushy plumed tail. She is shy, but with some at- tention and treats she is likely to become your fur ever friend. Spritz is spayed, has all her shots and can be ad- opted for $ 30, by calling PAWS at 812-354-9894. We will strive to be more like Jesus in all that we do. "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you" (Matthew 5:44). Joseph Roman, Pastor Clara Walls, Reporter MT. PISGAH G.B. CHURCH (Augusta) Broadway Street Winslow Pastor 812-582-0756 Sunday morning worship at 10 :15 a.m., children's Sun- day school during morning service. We will no longer be having Wednesday night service, until school starts back up in August. "He sets the poor on high and make their families like a flock" (Psalm 107:41). One of the primary rea- son for the breakdown in the home is that we have forgot- ten God's commands about marriage. God gave mar- riage to us, and His stan- dards haven't changed. Je- sus said, "A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife...There- fore what God hath joined to- gether, let not man separate" (Matthew 19:5 -6). Divorce was not part of God's origi- nal design- -nor is it now. The Bible declares, "The God of Israel says that He hates di- vorce" (Mal. 2:16). Mar- riage is a symbol of the uni- ty between Christ and His church- -a unity that should never be torn. No marriage is beyond repair with God's help. We must humble ourselves and put aside our pride and self- will. We must put others ahead of ourselves. If di- vorce has happened to you, God can forgive the past, heal the present, and give hope for the future. If you are married, treasure your spouse as a gift from God, and yield your marriage to Christ. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your presence will be greatly ap- preciated and I am sure you will receive God blessings. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter WINSLOW G.B. CHURCH 600 E. First Wednesday of each month, Advisory Board meeting before Bible study and business meeting to fol- low. Thought for the week: Al- ways pray to have eyes that see the best in people, a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets the bad and a soul that never loses faith in God. Be in prayer this week for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Try to be kind and show God's love because every- one is fighting some kind of battle. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to any of our services. May we seek help from above to do this well. "You fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:43). Because He lives. Hope, Peace and Purpose "Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be count- ed among the wise. Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." (Proverbs 19:20 -21, NIV ). I believe that we all know what it is like to get criti- cism, advice and even dis- cipline. Moreover, we all to some extent, understand that wisdom is gained by learning from mistakes or misjudgements and grow- ing form them. However understanding that God has a purpose in all of this for your future escapes nine-tenths of the popula- tion. Even as Christians it is hard to see that you have to go through one valley to understand and make it through the next one. But, God has the purpose for you to have a bright fu- ture full of hope and peace. Now, does this mean it will be a cake walk? No. Does it mean that you will always understand what is hap- pening and why? No. But, it does mean that you can trust that God has a plan and that it will prevail. So trust in God with all your heart and spirit, for he wants to bring you hope and peace for today and your future. God bless you and keep you. See our Facebook page Glezen Revival Center.
