For the first time, the prom will be held off campus. The Red Bluff Elks Lodge was chosen as the location that will be transformed i n t o N e v e r l a n d for this m a g i c a l e v e n i n g . "Bringing it to the Elks Lodge makes it better for the kids. It's our hope to make this night truly special for them all," commented Mr. Palubeski. Since the Elks Lodge hosts many weddings, it has great rooms for crowds of people and a dining hall for food. The beautiful landscaping also lends a romantic air to the event. There is a large room that is perfect for a dance floor; it's quite spacious and is comfortable to hold many seniors. Giving the night a change in venue is something that many are happy about. Since the seniors picked the theme, they have been conversing with sophomore leadership in order to make sure that the night turns out just as they hope. The leadership team members have been preparing for months by breaking up into specific groups and working with the s e n i o r s . T h e prom king and queen, c h o s e n by their classmates, will have a special time d e d i c a t e d to their crowning. "I expect that it will be a lot of fun and probably one of the best nights I will have," comment Reed Pritchard, junior. Everyone interviewed is in anticipation to see the wonderful decorations that sophomore leadership will come up with. Prom switches up location this year proaching Red Bluff at a rapid pace. This calls for light- er outerwear to escape the blistering heat. Let's say goodbye to the bitter cold days, heavy attire and hel- lo to the baking heat waves, shorts, tanks and dresses. Boys Girls Graduating from High School is different in all countries. While hearing the non-stop, ever looping "Pomp and Circumstance" as you walk your way to a handshake and a piece of rolled up paper is how we do it in the U.S., that is certain- ly not the case in other countries. In Japan, students celebrate by sing- ing and marching together. The cere- monies usually take place in March, just before the new school year, and last for about an hour to an hour and a half. They wear uniforms instead of caps and gowns. Graduation ceremo- nies in the Philippines happen very often in lower educational levels. Graduates wear their school uniforms under their gowns. They are adorned with leis after exiting the stage. High School students in Sweden dress u p in sailor outfits and begin sing- ing and chanting as they make their way out of the school in a big group. Outside of the school, families gath- er and hold up big posters with their graduates name on it and a bunch of embarrassing childhood photos. They then place ribbon with presents tied to them around the graduates neck. They pile up into pickup truck beds and pa- rade floats and greet the community. In Argentina and Italy, new grads are pelted with foods, con- diments and other nasty, sticky stuff. People in Germany do not typically celebrate graduation. Graduation around the world sure does seem exciting, but nothing is better than the good old fashioned USA way. In the US, we often celebrate by crying over AP exams and finals, and finally being relieved of all stress af- ter the graduation ceremony only to me slapped in the face by college and adult responsibilities. Dance tryouts will be next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday audition time will be 1:30 Acid wash tees are a new trend for guys to add interesting patterns into their wardrobe. Cut off and frayed jeans are in this season to add an edgy factor to any outfit. Watches are making a comeback this year and only the stylish people wear them. Strappy tank tops are light and flowy tops that are also great for warding off the baking heat. Scallop patterned shorts are cute and easy to slip on. Chunky necklaces make a bold statement with basic clothing, like a plain tank top, it can bring an outfit together.
