The NSCIF semis is going to be held on Tuesday May 17. this season he is injured and hopes to get back on the field soon. When asking Tanner Tweedt, sophomore, what he believes the team's greatest weakness is that they need to work on their offensive end of the game. They need to be more aware and have quicker reflexes. On the other end of the spectrum, the team's biggest strength is their defense and their pitching. Tweedt is looking forward to a winning season and hanging with his friends. Tanner has been playing the game since he was 5 years old, or 11 years. The Red Bluff High School Junior Varsity baseball team, coached by George Moran and Jorge Caldera. This team has had to endure some tough challenges, but they are trying to improve and make changes as the end of the season comes to a halt. Dalton Eischen, a freshman who is a pitcher on the team with twelve years of experience, mentioned that the season is not the best because they are making silly mistakes that are fixable. They need to work on motivating not just themselves, but each other. The team also lacks the skill of keeping their head in the game . According to Sophomore Trenton Coates, who has been playing baseball for eleven years. This won't let Trenton down though because he desperately wants to bat five hundred by the end of the season. However, the Red Bluff boys are strong when it comes to playing defense, so they tend to use that as an advantage. When asking Freshman Andrew Allen how he feels the season is going, he replied with "Its going good no matter what has happened, we are having fun getting to play together and learning how we each play ball out on the field." When asking Ian Skjegstad, a sophomore, who their toughest opponent is, he responded with "Pleasant Valley because they are a well-rounded team with very good batting skills''. After the season is over, Ian wishes to practice on his skills so he is ready for Varsity next year. When asking how they expected to do versus how the season turned out, Zamora stated that "Our team has excelled what I expected us to achieve" Zamora said that her goals for the season was to be able to play by the end of the season. However, her injury kept her from being able to play this season. Although, Alexis has kept a smile through the season and is looking forward to next season, when she will be able to play. Maci Ochs, freshman, stated that her personal goal was to "Hit a dinger." This means that you hit a home run over the fence. The team goal this year was to be undefeated. However, the team did not reach this goal due to the loss to Chico. They played very hard, but weren't able to pull through. The softball team needs to work on their batting average and attitudes. Ochs stated, "Once we get down on each other, it is hard to get out of our own minds.'' "We have tried to improve on this aspect of the game, but it is something that has kept us down", stated Ochs. They are still trying to work on this, but with little success. Their coach still strives to help them improve on this. The Junior Varsity girls Softball team's season is coming to a stop. They had games last Friday, and Wednesday forward to a winning season Shania Prieto/Bluffer their head in the game I regret to inform you that sports physicals will not be held this year at Red Bluff High School. Due to circumstances beyond the school's control, all athletes will need to arrange for their own sports physical prior to being cleared to participate in CIF sanctioned athletics at Red Bluff High School. No athlete can participate in tryouts, practice, scrimmages or contests without having a current physical and a completed sports packet on file in the RBHS Student Store. No Exceptions. We recognize not having our annual sports physicals is going to cause inconvenience to many families. We are hoping this information will help families plan for this change. If your child participates in both fall and spring athletics, they should plan on having a physical between May 16, 2016 and the beginning of their fall sport. If your child does not participate in a spring sport, they need not wait until May 16 to get their physical. Start dates for our fall sports can be found on our web page. If your child is a Fall and Spring athlete, I recommend contacting your health care provider right away for an appointment. For more detailed information on the fall athletics, including places to get a sports physical, visit RBHS's web page. The website has several documents on the Athletics link that should answer most questions on the issue. This information will also be mailed home. Please contact us with any questions.
