Everyday life brings hard times to each of us like loss of a loved one, money troubles, problems at work, sickness, etc. These are examples of life's storms. But you must remember just because we are in a storm doesn't mean we have to let the storm get inside us. Too many times everyday situations disrupt our everyday peace we strive to have. Life is 10 percent of what happens to us and 90 percent of how we handle it. It's like the ocean. When it storms or the wind picks up, it changes the surface of the water. But deep inside the ocean the water never changes. Much like life. When things happen around us, it affects how we react on the surface. But this requires us putting on our spiritual armor everyday before we leave home. The enemy can not control your destiny, only God controls this. Regardless of how much pain, we can know peace, fulfillment, and genuine joy that are found only in God, When things go well, it is possible to live spiritually superficial lives. However, when sorrow comes, a person is driven to recognize and seek the deeper purposes in life and to accept strength from God. None of us want hurt, pain, or adversity in our lives, but unfortunately we have these daily. But if we turn to God, He will walk and comfort us through these times. "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven" (Matthew 5:16). The Lord sometimes takes us into troubled waters not to drown us, but to cleanse us. A letter from God Good morning—As you got up, I watched and hoped you would talk to me. Just a few words, such as thanking me for something good in your life yesterday or last week, would do. But I noticed you were busy selecting the right clothes for work. I waited again to hear from you. When you ran around the house collecting papers, I knew there would be a few minutes to stop and say hello, but you never slowed down. I wanted to tell you that I could help you accomplish more than you ever dreamed possible if you would just spend some of each day with me. I watched as off to work you went and waited patiently all day long to hear from you. With all your activities you were too busy to talk with me. I noticed at lunch you glanced three tables over and noticed some of your friends talking to me before they ate, but you wouldn't. There was still more time left, and I hoped that we would talk. You went home and had many things to do. After they were done, you turned on the TV; just about anything goes there and you spend many hours watching. I waited as you continued watching TV and ate your meal, but again you wouldn't talk to me. At bedtime you were totally tired. After you said good night to your family you plopped into bed and fell asleep. I had so much wanted to be part of your day. We could have had so much fun and accomplished so much together. I love you so much that I wait everyday for a thought, prayer or thanks. Well, maybe tomorrow. I'll be waiting. Your Friend, God. Have a blessed day. We invite all of you to come and worship with us. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter ter. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed—incapable of doing anything." It's important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don't carry them through the evening and into the night. Remember to put the glass down. Church "He is my defender; I will not be defeated" (Psalm 62:6). Here is a big question. What is God doing when you are in a bind? When the lifeboat springs a leak? When the rip cord snaps? When the last penny is gone before the last bill is paid? What are we doing? Nibbling on nails like corn on the cob. Pacing floors..Taking pills.......But what does God do? He fights for us. He steps into the ring and points us to our corner and takes over. "Remain calm; the Lord will fight for you" (Exodus 14:14). His job is to fight. Our job is to trust. Just trust. Not direct. Or question......Our job is to pray and wait. Let go of your stresses A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. Stay thirsty. Stay hungry. Jesus said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled" (Matthew 5:6 NIV). Ultimately it's not your talents, but your desire that determines your destiny. One of Paul's highest compliments was given to the believers in the Thessalonian church: "We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing" (II Thessalonians 1:3 NIV). We usually don't like to admit that we are sinful creatures. We try to hide our sins and pretend they don't exist, or someone or anything else made us sin. God wants honesty from us—it will strengthen our relationship with God. When our relationship is right with God, all other relationships have a way of falling into their proper place.
